Howdy Folks. It has been some time since I've owned a Smith & Wesson revolver, but I recently became smitten with the 2 3/4" Model 69 after my Taurus 431 started giving me some issues. Originally, I was looking for another .44 Spcl that was CA compliant (good luck with that) and that’s when I spotted the 69. I started looking for information and came here for reviews and comments about the little wheel gun. Well, it didn't take long for my "smitten" to turn into full blown, red hot lust.

I did the paperwork on it today, and so begins the long 10 day wait.

In the short time I spent with it this afternoon, I was pleased with it. The grips fit my hands surprisingly well and the finish work looked spot on. I can’t wait to get it home and show it some love.

I look forward to learning from and sharing with you all.

    Thanks again

Brownells sells s&w “x frame hogue tamer” grips if you decide later the factory grips hurt too much. Next will be the lock delete!

I've got a couple hundred Skeeter loads rolled for it already and some H110 loaded magnums (I typically shoot in my Redhawk), just to get me and it broke in and used to one another. I've been looking at those X Frame grips. If this dude is that bad, I may try a set out. I've already got a set of Pachmyr Renegade rosewood grips waiting, if I can hold on to it with those, we should be good. I have seen the videos of folks removing the lock. It is surprising how simple it looks.

    Welcome aboard friend.
I was in the market for a .44 mag not long ago and ended up going a different route. However, I still love the 69 and it is still on my list.
Make sure you post a range report when you get it out to the range. And we always love pics.

I bet you feel those H110 loads a little more than you do in your Redhawk. lol

10 day wait? Did your shop have to order one for you? Backorder?

Edit: oh, I just realized you said you live in Ca, sorry.

+1 Mine's a 4", but it's far and away my favorite 44 (Special or Magnum) revolver.
I'll bet so too. I run mostly 250gr cast lead SWCs over about 9grs of Unique through my Model 69.

These Skeeter loads will be a nice load for the 69.

OK, I didn't have time for a proper test but, I was shooting at 36 yards and I will be keeping this one forever. Yep, it has "The Lock"' too foops bad. Even with the factory grip it wasn't too bad on recoil to me with 5 different loadings.

A 4" Model 69 may be the one that finally gets me to buy a Internal Lock S&W.

The Model 69 is a totally useless gun. The recoil is brutal with full magnum loads due to it's light weight, it doesn't hold enough rounds for protection against bears, a L-Frame revolver is bulky for conceal carry and it has the dreaded Internal Lock.

But it sure puts a smile of my face when I handle one. Which is reason enough I suppose to own one.

I have promised myself a new gun at the end of this year after I survive having a bunch of dental work done, finish paying off some big bills and completing a major house remodeling project. Life will good with no bills and a big bore revolver. :D

It’s zero here and spitting snow but the sun is trying to peak thru. Just killing time until it warms a bit so I can take the dog for a walk.

I really like my 2.75” model 69! Other than a couple of “teething “ problems when it was brand new ( broken firing pin at about 350 rounds, and very heavy DA trigger pull) it has been great! I put a set of Pachmayr Diamond Pro grips on and recoil is very manageable! Recoil actually seems milder than my 6.5” model 629.

It has become my favorite EDC gun with 240grain .44 special loads.

    Another sad case:

Fell on hard times & had to sell my 44 - a 4" Redhawk
Still have lotsa 44 Mag & 44 Spl ammo.
Now that times are better, I've been looking at that 69.
I have smaller hands & the Redhawk was a bit unwieldy.
An L frame S&W sounds like a good fit.

Definitely lookin' forward to range reports.
