After many years overseas, my family and I have begun a new assignment in a strange and exotic land called...the Florida Panhandle! ;-) We were finally able to get my vintage rifles (1917 Enfield, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, and Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk 1*), most of which we had never even fired, out of storage. I also have and old Marlin Papoose and I picked up a new Ruger 10/22 and a scope.

I took the old guns out for a brief test shoot a few weeks ago, semi-autos were both cranky, so I had them serviced and now they are good to go. Today went to the range with a couple of my kids to sight in the new 10/22, adjust the zero on the Garand (love the ping), and check the factory zero on the .303 (still good). It was a great morning!

Next week we'll do the M1 Carbine and the 1917 and I am thinking in might be time to renew my C&R license and get a few more nice old guns....

    Cheers,

    Matthew

You gotta feel like a kid in a candy shop! I can't imagine being away from shooting my firearms for any length of time.

Welcome back. I'm sure your firearms missed going to the range.

I grew up as an Army brat back when that meant a new country every three years or so...
I was only 12 the last time we returned- but I can still remember that feeling almost sixty years later.

    Welcome home

Welcome back from another near the Panhandle. There's a couple of nice gun clubs out that way - Southern Tactical in Holt and Santa Rosa in Pace.

Welcome home. Having been there and done that it's always great to return home. During my travels, like you, I missed my shooting and my guns.

Or as my brother who lives there would say, "Baja Georgia".

I am further west, here they say “Lower Alabama.” ;-)

PS—I have also ordered my first handgun, a Beretta 81!

    Welcome Home! :)

I can’t imagine being away from home for long. I took a new job 9 years ago and the company decided after a few months that they were sending me to Germany. I squashed that but they threatened it every couple of months. I ended up leaving their employment after 2 years. I am a homebody, I guess.

I've enjoyed several trips abroad, and met and worked with some fine people. But it is always a great feeling to walk through US Customs and Immigration, show my passport, and walk onto US soil again. It just has a different, special feel to it.

    Welcome home.

Welcome to Fla! If you're in the Panhandle, at least you're far from I-95.
Felt much the same when I got back from Germany when I ETS'd from the Army.

There, I fixed that last sentence for ya!
