Backup Carry

For those of you who choose to carry a backup, is it easier to reach your backup than your primary handgun? For instance I carry a primary in a shoulder holster that's the vertical style, but the ole .38 in the strong side pocket is a much faster draw
Pocket carry is only fast if the pocket is easily accessible, and the fabric not stretched too tightly, at that moment in time. A pocket can be blocked, in a variety of ways, including an opponent's deliberate action. So, when I pocket carry a secondary/tertiary weapon, it may or may not be more expedient to deploy than my primary weapon.

Often, my second weapon is positioned to mirror the carry position of my primary weapon, so speed of access will depend upon which hand is more free at that moment in time. I am actually left-handed, but functionally ambidextrous with most handguns, and "primary" means the weapon carried on my right hip. 0300 to 0330 is my default carry location.

When I wore a snub-gun in an ankle rig, on police patrol, and my duty revolver in the old-style flap holster, I could, when seated in the patrol car, draw the ankle gun faster than the belt gun.
