I recently joined this group and posted maybe 3 threads The last thread I asked if anyone else had heard or saw negative comments about the NRA, from pro gun people, that they negotiate rights away. I was generally interested in peoples opinions and or expierences on this matter....Well...I got a lot of crap and got called a troll, got drilled by a moderator that I wasn't some spy,:cuss: made fun of the name DollParts cause I didn't use something like 40calgal.....I thought forums were for advice, debate, opinions and just convo meeting people with th same interest, but I guess thats why here in NH we call them M*******S.

you sure know how to make an entrance

now i ain't saying good or bad

do you care to make more of a statement, observation as to how you think THR may be different or ask a question? bearing in mind that people in forums, much as in real life, tend to react to others as they are acted towards.

Any thread I've experienced concerning the NRA usually falls into 2 camps. Camp one takes the stand that the NRA is a very valuable organization in furthering the political agenda of gun owners due to their shear size and political lobbying power in Washington and local/state government.
Camp two tends to feel that any compromise or restriction on gun rights by any organization is a sell out of the 2nd. ammendment and considers the NRA no better than the Brady bunch.
To the best of my knowledge nobody who has participated in one of these "NRA, Good or Bad?" discussions has ever changed their position or been swayed at any time, on any board, in any thread. It's like talking religion and usually serves no useful purpose except to fire up the flamethrowers.
DollParts, Since you started this thread why don't you lead things off and provide us with your views on the NRA? Oh and welcome to the High Road, DollParts. :)

Asking question regarding the NRA is sort of like trying to discuss politics or religion. It is best left alone. As noted above the two camps regarding the NRA are very vocal and volatile.

If you want to leave with you head still attached it pays to skirt around this type of topic.

Doll Parts, bashing other sites isn't that cool of a thing to do. And if you wish to introduce yourself properly, or again, or make a better run at it than this. Go to the introduce yourself thread. Welcome to THR don't worry I won't judge ya on this thread I'll wait for your next one.:D

FWIW:
I don't comment on any NRA discussion post or participate in any contributions, I even return emails and "RETURN TO SENDER" I get from NRA.. Every one has a different point of view and I have mine. :cuss:

The NRA pro/con issue is so worn out its irritating to most.

It goes along with, I hate Walmart because... or guess what "bubba" the gun shop worker did.....or whats the best caliber to....or look I shot myself in the head and I just want to tell everyone so they won't do it.........

Well, going to a 2A pro-gun site and immediately jumping on the NRA is usually not considered a good thing to do. Many would consider it trolling, sort of like going to an anti 2A site and asking if it's ok to keep a handgun just for self defense.

sites

I belong to the northeastern site.I think the members mostly know each other thru the site but also personaly as its a local area.you know its not to far from one end to the other.I lived in Mass for 70 odd yrs.but only in last 2 yrs been on the web.:uhoh:

You forgot the third camp, comprised of people whining about junk mail.

MY POSITION ON THE NRA.

The NRA is, in general, a solid friend and advocate for lawful gun owners.

As such, it is naturally infiltrated by those with an anti-gun agenda, who proceed to use the organization for their own purposes. As do would-be politicians, anarchists, racists, businessmen, and all the rest.

Bottom line? No organization is perfect. Even Heaven had fallen angels.

All people see I guess is the NRA question that I explained here that I asked on the other site. On the other site I didn't immediately jump into this topic it was my last thread. I wanted to know if i sound like a "troll" to any of you by asking this question. I am new to the forum thing and maybe as I am begining to see...not so good at it. I will try to answer the questions the members here asked.
I am a member of the NRA I feel that they are the most influential to big government, on the federal level. I think it's great that they provide and promote classes to all including women, and that they donate to the Boy Scouts and 4H. I can join local groups like GONH but do they have pull in big government or just State?(which might change considering NH declared soveirgnty) but the most pull is the NRA. I think our 2A is hanging by a thread and is only still an Amendment because of the NRA.I Will remain a member always because of that. I believe strongly in the 2nd Amendment, and I just like to shoot. So thats where I stand on the NRA.
So do I have the right impression of forums?? Are they for advice, opinions, debate, information?? or am I all wrong...and Thank you for the welcome Mohawk.

Welcome. :)

Just a note - we don't do forum wars here. What happens somewhere else, stays there. We'll not pass judgement on it.

Browningguy Thanks for the advice, but it wasn't immediate let me expound a little..what prompted the question was Facebook I started a page so that I can view someone elses decided might as well do something with it, I was looking for any local groups pro 2A like GONH, or the 2nd Amendment Sisters, and I looked up the NRA it will give you all results and groups with NRA in the title and some were saying negative things giving birth to my question. Which I did join the NRA group on Facebook....

Nice to see your response, DollParts. Your diction and sentence structure has improved since your first post. Well, since we’re discussing the merits or lack of, concerning the NRA, I think you hit the nail on the head with your assessment. Many people post that contributions to the NRA all go to lawyers and admin costs. Lots of it goes to local programs such as boy scout training, etc. Overall, the NRA is for gun rights and the Second but when you operate on a national level you sometimes have to “dance with the devil.” This action tends to pee of the purists.
I think you’ll find many fine discussions here. In all honesty, it was challenging to figure out what you were looking for with your initial post. As you’re new to forum posting, a word of advice. Words on paper tend to come across differently that face to face.
You’ll do fine. :)

OK...I belong to NES and have read your thread and the first page has 10 responses and never once did any of them call you a troll! You started the whole "trolling " thing with your answer right here DollParts Quote " You just opened up a whole other topic for me...,but I'm not going to touch it....I will check it out first..I wouldn't want to be accused of trolling." That's from page 2 answer #14.

You actually got some good responses and questions that maybe you didn't know how to answer or understand? In any forum you will get a mixed response to any thread, don't ask the question if you can't handle an answer you're not looking for.

No one cares what your name is either, there's one on there that's " Mr. Twigg" and he has a avitar of a tree. I've never seen anyone make fun of his name so I wouldn't come on another forum and bash another, it's not cool and you really won't make to many friends by calling us Mass*****s either :cuss: another quote from DollParts "I will leave this group ok..thats why they call you guys M*******S!"
Page 3 #24 for anyone who wants to go to the NorthEastShooters.com site and do a search for NRA, you'll find the post.
