Met the guy at lunch today, and, of course, if it's a bargain there's usually something wrong, right?

    Refinished, among other things

You can remove that chrome plating without too much trouble. (I know you can chemically remove nickel plate, not sure about Kee-Rhome.) I wonder how much pitting it might be hiding underneath, though.

If you don't want to fool with it, send it on up to me, I'll suffer through with her. :)

For the $1000 he's wants for it, you'll do better with a bag of doorknobs.

Not to mention that the trigger...grips...mainspring housing...grip safety...and mag catch are incorrect. Can't tell about the slidestop and the thumb safety without seeing the other side.

The mag catch lock has also been honked out by somebody who thought it was a screw.

Thumb safety and slidestop appear to be original, or at least correct.

It might be a shooter, but even then, not at a grand.

Did he chrome the outside of the barrel as well, or just polish up the metal? You know, I bet that is chrome spray paint as noted above.

A grand is about what the guy took off the value by the buff and plating job.

Judging by the rest of the work, it appears to have been done by a Harley Muffler plater.

Too much risk of Hydrogen Embrittlement from bumper plating high carbon steel to be worth fooling around with it.

You just don't know what Evil is lurking deep down inside the steel!

BTW: He ask $1,000 bucks for it on April 1st?
No doubt that was an April Fools joke!
