I have read of people using ruger springs and i have read of other modifications, but if you reload with your thumb against the opening lever it won't close up on you.

^^^^^^^^^^^exactly what I do, hold the lever with the thumb. There are smiths that make the mods for guys in cowboy shooting, I understand. I've gotten so used to holding the lever, I've never bothered.

I just bought a Baikal MP220 for CAS. After I disassembled it and slicked it up, it would almost stay open but a little bounce would cause it to partially close. But I found that allowing or pushing the lever back to the center position provided much more resistance to it partially closing.
I used it in a match last week and it worked perfectly.
