I already know that the Balisong is prohibited here, however I am more curious as to the legal standings on a trainer. In my opinion it doesn't qualify as a knife, so there is no way for it to fall under the "illegal" knife category. I'm just looking for any insights on what may qualify it to not be legal to carry around.

Obviously the trainer has no edge whats so ever and I assume it would be close to impossible to stab through something with it. Honestly the intended use is just fun and safe flipping practice. Any interpretations or answers would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

60 views and not a single interpretation of the law or a single opinion? It's really not very complicated, is it a club? is it a knife? is it nothing? Balisong = butterfly knife for anyone who doesn't know.

Don't know much about them really.

I know they were legal for a while then the definition of "switchblade" was changed to cover them.

I can't imagine why a trainer would be illegal under this definition:

When the definition of knife is:

Problem of course is this whole "club" thing, which can mean just about anything a prosecutor WANTS it to mean:

That's pretty danged open ended. Not a lawyer and all that but I would be afraid of getting on the wrong side of that "club" statute if it were me.
