I just picked up some of this in .223. Does anyone know of any impact tests on it? Does it expand? fragment? Would it be a good load for, say, coyote?

Anything with a soft point is going to expand at .223 velocities, as long as the target is at reasonable ranges. Heck, FMJ fragments in the right media, so your SPs will be just fine for a coyote within about 300yds.

Most of the Barnaul ammo has steel jacketed soft point bullets. Get yourself a five gallon bucket of water and shoot it at 100 yards. That will tell you if it will expand or not.
