The one near me has greatly increased their hand gun inventory over the last couple years. I agree they should have most of what you want to look at. Try to go on a weekday and during the day to avoid crowds of (other) browsers at the counter.

I was at Bass Pro today. They have a sample of most manufacturers, but not much depth in any line.

Mine have no HKs, about one Sig P220, most others are Taurus, SW, Springers (few)....I would never buy from them...I use my local shop for better service and price.

Ours has mostly Glock, S&W, many many Taruses, some Sigs, and Rugers, FN and others. I actually saw a Ruger LCP there today for $299. Almost snatched it up, but just couldn;t talk myself into it.

They have a very good selection, and pretty good prices, also.

Hey Topgun, were you at the southern Indiana store today? I was there about 4:30, and I bought the last Ruger LCP. I could not find one anywhere.

When the one in KCK opened, I was struck by the fact it had no handgun in the store with less then a 4" barrel, and no black rifles.

By comparison, Cabala's down the road 10 miles carry's every model of every snubby & pocket pistol made.
As well as a good assortment of evil black rifles.

In the few I've been to, the have a little of everything, but not a full lineup of anything. They also tend to have the plain jane items in the line rather than the higher end models. They also tend to lean towards .45's and hunting revovlers more than say 9mm's and defensive revolvers (though they do have some).

They never seem to have what I'm looking for, at least when I'm looking for it. For what it's worth, their rifle and shotgun selection is almost entirely oriented to the hunting arena and amost zero for the tactical or target shooter.

If you have a Sportsman Warehouse around, check it out. They have a pretty wide inventory and a knowlegable staff. They will actually let you handle guns without a lock. Prices are generally better than Bass Pro and Cabellas. I seldom buy new guns, but it's fun to visit them.

The BPS by me has a small selection with big prices. Last Gun I bought was $150-$200 cheaper at my local gun shop.

I went to the new one in Ashland VA back the first of December. First one I had been in, and my experience was the same as rcmodel's. Most everything was Glock, XD, and M&P,mostly .40cal, a few 1911s, some Sigs and some revolvers that were all pretty much the same.

I wasnt impressed at that selection from a big name store.

No handguns at my bass pro shop. Just hunting rifles. What some firearms dealers dont understand is that hunting is just one part of the firearms industry.
