Wow I wish my girlfriend would like to shoot with me, would be interesting to have a couples day out AND get to go to the range.

She grew up around guns but never really got into them. :banghead:

I made my mind up last year, my 6th wife WILL be a shootist! If she isn't, she doesn't become lucky #6. :D

Looks like a good day.

I haven't gotten the chance to shoot with my girlfriend. She got to shoot today though and I'm totally jealous. Hopefully in the next couple weeks or so I can get her to my place to shoot.

I've heard she's really good.

My wife really enjoys shooting, even though she doesn't hit anything.....She too refuses coaching.....Oh well, maybe 40-50 thousand more rounds and she'll find her style...

My most recent ex thought guns were (barely necessary) evils, and wouldn't go shooting with me if I dragged her. She's from Arkansas and grew up in the country.

The more significant ex (and 100X the woman of my most recent one) was from NY, and took her target home to show off after the first time I took her shooting. :)

shooting together stay together

I took my significant other to a 4 day pistol skill building training facility (the name of which shall stay anonymous for political reasons) We have been shooting once a month for the last 5 years and i have taken her from 22's up to her own semi-custom 1911-45. Originally it was for self defense for her but now she just loves to shoot. I have been shooting for over 30 years and was military and PD trained. But nothing prepared me for this experience, at the end of 4 10 hour range sessions and some 1600 rounds each she was scoring higher than i was,This was draw, present and fire for accuracy against a timer at 4 different distances. I had a ton of old bad habits to break and she had almost none. Major bonding time

Why do most girls always lean back when they shoot? Anyone else notice this?

I have been told it is because they are carrying a little more "baggage" up near the shoulders that has to be accounted for when they extend their arms.

She had a gun in her hand, so I believed her when she told me that.

"Why do most girls always lean back when they shoot? Anyone else notice this?"

Couple of things:
1. She hasn't had much experience shooting a J frame.
2. I stepped her up from low powered wadcutters to some +P's just so she could get the feel of them. She leaned back a little with them.

Of course, doing it all wrong she was still shooting CM, so...

YES, I notice it and it drives me friggin' nutz!!!:banghead: I coach and coach and explain and coach and demonstrate and coach and position and.......get NOWHERE:cuss::banghead:

Might be trying subconsciously to keep their heads as far from the explosion as possible. Smart, and not very manly.

I think it's a natural tendency to want to keep something that is exploding as far from the face as possible. I really don't think it has to do with their anatomy, but I could be wrong.

fwiw, I notice it on ALL new shooters, not just women. We think women do it more because they typically ARE new shooters. Go look at some experienced females shooters, they don't do this even if they are 'well endowed'.

Word to possible thread contributors - pics of the spouse at the range are great but we do not do pinup style pics here.

This is The High road, after all.

:)

(So far, y'all have been fine, but we've already had one nude grrls-with-guns pic posted this weekend and we don't need to do that any more...)

As I said - we won't be doing that again. There are those who believe that it is NOT good clean fun, and we will respect their concerns.

My beautiful lady and her favorite toy to shoot with, my Ruger 10/22. She also has a fun time with my S&W 22A pistol. Still hasn't got comfortable enough to shoot the .357 or .45 ACP handguns yet, but we're working on that.

Figured pretty soon, a nice romantic trip up on the hill to shoot some skeet will do her some good.
