Why do most women look like they're gonna' fall over backwards when shooting, especially with long guns? Aggressively lean forward into it ladies - it won't bite ya, you'll absorb much more of the recoil comfortably, and ya just might hit what you're aiming at to boot.

They lack the upper body strength to support a long gun properly, without a lot of effort. Its the same as when you carry a very heavy bucket, and lean to the opposite side to balance it as you walk.

10 ring Tao: Bulloney. Watch the women Olympic rifle shooters to see that they can properly support the rifle. Upper body strength has nothing to do with it. It is just not being taught the proper position using bone support instead of muscle support.

Women make great standing shooters when properly taught, and even have an advantage over men (naturally lower center of gravity).

I disagree. What I've found is that it's usually their perception that they have to balance it out by swaying back. I've proven to more than one new female shooter that a proper stance is totally achievable, and brings desired results much more consistently. True, we've had to work up some stamina and learn to not hold that firearm up (shotguns in my case) for a full minute before firing, but even my 5' 2" weak-as-a cat GF can handle a 10lb target shotgun with pretty decent form after less than a year of shooting it.

This is her at the World Skeet Championship last October where she took 6th in High Overall Average in her class.

Speaking of hot women with guns, did anyone else who gets American Rifleman notice the sweet looking blonde shooting the M1A in the newest issue? I didn't know which one to ogle first, the grl or the gun!
