I am tryng to reinforce an old but nice looking (externally) 98/22 stock. i took a tip from the bedding posts and think that some resin and steel rods to help strengthen the recoil lug is perfect for my project.
Where is the stress of recoil designed to go AFTER the recoil lug? thru the triggerguard? around it? (before it hits my shoulder, that is!)
And similarly, where is the best place to put some steel rod reinforcements?
thanks,
C-

The stress is distributed throughout the stock. Glass bedding insures that the stresses are evenly distributed and also reinforces the wood. Steel reinforcement would not be necessary unless you have one of the more powerful cartridges.
