for those of you who might care I have essentially been homeless since October 2012, Recently my daughter and her husband bought a home and asked me to stay with them until I get Social Security claims straightened out.
I have a laundry list of medical problems and haven't been able to find work I am qualified to do or that I am physically capable of doing.
Anyway staying in Shelters and "Transitional Housing" I have had to have my guns stored at other locations.
It looks as though on Sunday the 2nd I will be getting them here with us in the new house.
Grateful does not begin to describe how I am feeling right now, and I can't wait to get to the range or maybe even hunting again.
Anyway thanks, I have been lurking but not posting much I haven't had a lot to talk about that is gun related until now.

Hope things work out for you. It's hard to exercise your 2nd a. rights without a home.

Best of luck to you. We'll keep you in our prayers. +1 on the kudos for your daughter and son in law.

Reality is that most of us are but a couple ill-timed mishaps away from being where you were for a couple years. Welcome back.

MrDig, sure hope your days are better. Also hope that you can get the relief you need and regain your independence. You did mention that you are disabled medically, and if its as a result of military service, I would recommend you contact a local veterans service office and apply for benefits.

Best wishes.

All the best to you, it could happen to anyone, that's what many don't realize. I have seen guys who were multimillionaire's, lose it all in a short time. And an illness can wipe you out. Thank god for your family. My mom is going through that now that she outlived everyone other than 1 sister who hit 101years old.
I spend my days helping her out with her shopping and doctors appointments as there isn't anyone left from her peer group or her family left who isn't in the same boat. Then one good illness and it's over, you lose your mobility.

I am glad things seem to be going better. I hope you can get your issues straightened out & have a stable & prosperous situation.

Sounds like you're from MN from your location. Congrats on being back on solid ground and under a dry roof before the snow season. Best of luck, and certainly better than you've had, going forward.

My best wishes to you,MrDig. Times can be hard as we all know. It looks like you are on the long trail back.

That is a wonderful gesture by your daughter and son in law. We should all be so loved.

Glad to hear things have turned around a bit for you. Life throws plenty of curve balls at all of us.

Sooooo, which gun are you going to take out for a range session first??

"...for those of you who might care ..."

I do, we all do!

Hope you have a pleasant stay with your kin and recover in all ways including with Social Security.

Had nadirs and zeniths throughout my life. Fortunately, not with respect to health, but I've known others who've been slammed down with illness.

Good luck henceforth !

Terry

Been there at least twice on each count. I can certainly empathize with you. I wish you the best of luck, but it appears you won't need to rely on it. God Speed, and we'll pray that you spend many more years treading on the grass before you feed it.

Welcome back MrDig. I'm glad to hear that things are looking better for you and that you'll have you guns back with you. Going thru something like that and still being able to retain your guns is very admirable.

Glad to hear you're getting back on your feet. Trust once the housing is settled you'll be able to secure employment. Blessings to you.

Glad to hear that things are moving in the right direction for you.

Best to you and your family!

Kudos to your daughter and her husband for opening their home to you. Sometimes fate deals us a poor hand to play. Sometimes you have to play the hand that's dealt to stay in the game. Seems you have done that. Good luck and happy shooting.

We should all take away from this that it is possible to have various problems happen to any of us. Have you thought about what you would do with your firearms if this happened due to accident/protection order/medical issues/job loss/etc. Who would you trust with storing them securely long term? Thinking it through and engaging in meaningful dialog with that party or parties now will save you loads of grief later.

The OP has done a lot of us a great service by explaining what has happened and the positive outcome. He has proved that where there is a will there shall be a way around life changing difficulties that work. Glad to have you back in the forum as well as able to do as you want with your firearms again. Well played sir.
