Let's say we are in a battle. Let's say there is an M16 full auto rifle that has seen better days. Would we (the 'good' guys) EVER take that pin out of the Bolt Carrier Group that serves to rotate and lock the bolt at time of fire?

If one did remove that large 'pin' (the one with the rectangular end and a hole through which the firing pin goes), and someone were to fire that rifle (M16 or even an AR-15), wouldn't the whole BCG fly backwards, possibly through someone's right cheek?

Since that part can come out so quickly, if you knew someone was out to get you with your OWN GUN, how about if you remove that one part and let them have at you?

The gun would not lock in battery without the cam pin.

If the firing pin didn't fall out when he loaded it?
And it did fire?
The GC group would not hit your cheek, as it would come back straight in line with the buffer tube in the stock and remain captive in the upper receiver.
Because there is no possible way it can get out.

I'd say it would just make the bad guys ears ring.
And make him more determined then ever to get you!

OK, Thanks!;)
I've been wondering about that pin, every time I carefully put it back into position! Many times, the thought came to mind (the "What-If" thought).

Thanks again! :)

let's not get into talking about disabling guns in unrealistic scenarios. if someone is out to get you, arm yourself and call the police. don't engage in "what could possibly go wrong?" booby trapping
