(45 cal is the only shells and bullets I can find)
therefore makes sense to reload them

New to reloading, eh? Welcome aboard. Dillon is a very good press. Single stage or turret is simpler to start with, but that is not a reason to pass on a progressive if you know your quantity of shooting will justify the cost.

Good to know your spouse is a shooter, too. (I read your other post).

You didn't say if those bullets were jacketed or lead. Depending upon which handgun you're loading for that powder charge might be too light. Hodgdon lists the starting charge of W231/HP-38 with a 200gr JHP bullet @5.2gr, well above your charge of 4.8gr. That light a charge might not cycle the slide of your pistol. It might be enough with a 200gr lead bullet but I rarely charge less than 5.0gr W231 with a 200gr lead bullet in the 45 Auto and usually charge 5.5gr. (on the rare occasions I load a 200gr bullet)

I charge 5.5gr W231 with almost any 230gr or 200gr bullet bullet in the 45 Auto. I mostly load 230gr LRN bullets for the .45 Auto and I find 5.5gr W231 to be the best load available. It's almost like W231 was specifically designed for that load.

I'm also a fan of learning to load on a press other than a progressive. Learning the ins-and-outs of reloading is better done on a press where you can see every step and learn how everything works before you use a progressive. This is not set in stone but seems to work well for most new reloaders.

I agree with ArchAngle,HP38/Win 231 is my go to powder for .45 APC. 5.3 to 5.5 grains seems to work best in my Springer with either the Lee TL 200 grain SWC or the Lee TL 230 grain round nose.I've also used Bullseye and Unique. hdbiker
