Belgian Browning A. Richard

I have a Belgian Browning A. Richard double barrel. I am needing some parts for it and I am having trouble finding any info on this firearm. Any help would be appreciated.

I could go through them if you want, but it looks to me like a Belgium Guild gun that no one carries parts for. There were thousands of them mostly stamped W. Richards.

Is it a family heirloom?

I am asking because the value on that shotgun peaks around $200 and as hard as it is to find parts (and depending on what and how many parts you need) it may cost you more than the gun is worth to fix.

It is a family heirloom and the only part I need the spring to hold the break lever locked in place. If you don't mind looking at them I would appreciate it.

I got you. Am I correct then in assuming you want an original part to replace with? If that's the case (and one I understand), that's going to be hard to find brother. Man, I sincerely wish you luck in finding one.

I prefer an original part but I don't have to have one. I am trying to get it functional for my father in law. It was his dads shotgun.

Shouldn't be too hard to find a spring if you're willing to use an applicable part.

Thanks hope I can find the part and get it finished for him. I am restoring about 8 firearms for him total and having some issues getting some parts

You do know that it is not a Browning FN nor an English Richards, but just a no name Belgium shotgun , right? I'm not being shaky just confused by the title of the post . JFYI FN was still years away from being in existence when that gun was made in some small cottage. Sorry about that

This is the original butt stock plate on the shotgun as far as I know.

Sorry, that is just a replacement buttplate. Your shotgun is not a Browning. Your shotgun is one of the hundreds of thousands imported prior to WWWI and sold for as little as 5 dollars,( mail order ) cheap even in those times. It's true value is as a family heirloom.

Belgium flooded the US market with those guns way back when and tried to spruce them up putting fancy English names on them like W. Richards so people would get confused thinking it was a Westley Richards or William Richards.

And that is not the original butt plate.

Nice project.

I agree with the other posters. And since no one else has, I’ll bring up the obvious. You shouldn’t shoot this shotgun. It was made for black powder loads only, and since it has Damascus barrels it will be difficult to determine if they’re corroded.

Rudolf31 is correct. It has Damascus barrels, and shouldn't be shot.

I know that isn't what you want to hear. I have a family heirloom shotgun, which is absolutely beautiful, but shouldn't be shot for the same reason.

Thanks for the info. I never seen any shotgun with these markings and could not find anything about it. I still would like the break latch to be functional and I was not planing on shooting the shotgun. It is just going to places in a gun cabinet with some other family shotguns and rifles that will never be shot.
