I was in my favorite shop the other day and they had gotten a new consignment gun. It was a Belgian made browning hi-power with the argentine crest engraved on the top of the slide, polished blue finish, small halfmoon front sight. Roll mark on side says Argenitne internal security police.

Its in mint condition, and made in Belgium, not argentina.

What is the value of a firearm like this? Is it worth $300???

The trigger felt good, appeared to have little wear, bluing was nice also is this a good price for a hi-power. Single action only.

Thanks

Is the extractor an internal one or an external one?

I'm sure some of the collectors will be around any minute.

Master Blaster...

"What is the value of a firearm like this? Is it worth $300???"

Is this a trick question???

From what (little admittedly) I know about Hi-Powers, a Belgium Browning in good shape (mint condition you said?) should be worth much more than $300. Unless your particular area is just flooded with Brownings. Almost any sort of crest should add to the value, although this would mean more to a collector than someone who wants a shooter.

300 for a BHP sounds awesome no matter what. 500 to 600 seems to be a good price so anything under 500 is awesome. I paid 525 with shipping and transfer fee for mine and it came with 3 standard capacity magazines during the ban years. If I find one at 300 I would be posting pictures of my new toy :D

It has an internal extractor, the ring hammer and the extractor appear to be case colored a brown plum color the rest of the gun is blued, no sign of any problems or damage, I took it appart on the counter and cleaned the barrel, and the feed ramp shines like a mirror, the gun appears to be new accept for a few very small handling marks and maybe a few rounds fired.

Lugs on the barrel look perfect.

Marks on the slide say

Fabrique National Armmes DuGuerre
Herstal-- Belgique

Browning patent req

On the Frame/dustcover left side

Security Internale

right side Frame/ dustcover
Buenos Aries AG Securite National 61

The slide and barrel have the same serial number, as does the 13 round magazine 02152

There is a large Crest engraved on the top of the slide in front of the rear sight.

There are some small proof and inspection marks on the barrel slide and frame.

I used Stephen A. Camp's inspection suggestions from Hipowers and handguns.com and the gun gets an A+

Anyone know about this firearm I put it on Hold with the owner of the shop, its a consignment gun.

I second that, if you dont want it, pm me with the shop name and phone number so I or someone else here can get it. 300 dollars for a HIPOWER . Why are you still reading this? Buy the gun and post the pictures already!

Ok, I feel better now, its just the thought of a nice bhp at that low price still gathering dust. :D

I ordered 2 of these from SOG for 200 bucks 2-3 years ago. They are a early 60s police gun and where fairly common at shows in the late 70s. They usualy have the mag saftey removed and everyone I have seen or heard of was refinished by FM then sold to a US importer.I am assuming they where trade ins on new FM guns. Some are refinished very well and you have to look really really close to tell it,others look they where refinished by a monkey. The importer marks are oftin on the top rear of one of the frame rails in very small letters. I sold one of mine for 250 bucks the sights sucked and I did not see much value with a refinished classic,it was still too pretty to cut for new sights....so down the road it went. and yes all the numbers matched including the mag which also had No-1 stamped under the SN.

Well I bought it, it had pachmeyer wrap around grips on it, which look pretty new, the mag safety is still in the gun and perfect working order no importer marks on the top of the frame rails. I found them on the underside of the slide rail on the right side CAI Miami FL. very small. the gun does appear to be reblued, because there was evidence of some minor pitting under the grips, that was blued over. Mechanically the gun appears to have been fired very little. Last night I put 75 rounds of my handloaded 9mm through it, 125 gr berry's plated Hollow points (huge cavity) 4 gr titegroup. They fed and fired and ejected flawlessly, at 15 yards they made one big hole in the target 1/2" below and left of the POA.. There is a little play in the slide to frame fit, and no play in the barrel to slide fit. Trigger is very good. There was another member at the range with a hipower he had just bought new for $615, his was made in portugal, and the finish and trigger were not nearly as nice as my old police trade in.
