I've gone to the NOE expander for 9mm coated or plated bullets. The NOE expander is installed in a Lee universal expander die, and replaces the conical expander supplied by lee. After slugging my 9mm barrels I've been using oversize bullets. I adjust the die so the bullet just barely fits when aligned straight to the case. The NOE expanders have a stepped body much like the "M" die. Here is a photo, the NOE is on the right and a Lee powder thru expander on the left for comparison:

Of course there is the “If it ain’t broke...” aspect of success.

I just measured and I’m putting a 0.010” flair on my 45 Auto rounds

Cool! what angle of flare do you suggest? 60 degrees work? Or a radius?
