Does anyone have one those Beretta 71's with the welded on fake suppressor? I see them listed at Century and SOG. I understand you can take the fake can off by grinding the weld and removing a set screw and you get a threaded barrellto mount a real suppressor. Looks like it would be neat with a real can.

Interesting read. Looks like silencer shop has 1/2-20 to 1/2-28 adapter. So this looks like it would be a good project to use with my new sparrow.

These are nice little guns.

Let me know if you can cycle without a Nielsen device and if you need a reduced power recoil spring.

Called SOG and they are out of stock. Century arms lists them for around $350

Thanks, will ask FLD how much markup and see if it is affordable.
I have long felt like I missed out on one of these when they went double action.

I usally just order direct from Century and have it shipped to my FFL. I have someone who does transfers for $15.

They list the 71 on there website with no prices, unless you have a account. They list fair, good and very good. Since i have a C&R on file with them, i get to view the prices and on there dealers flyers.

After some internet searching. The mags are not common but are out there. Runs around $30-40.

Well bad news, just called Century and SOG and they are both out of stock.

Anyone know of another place that has them in stock?

I have had to "tunk" the barrel out with a nylon hammer, on one that hadn't been cleaned very often. Usually they come out easily. :)

I receive 2 of them from SOG yesterday, and removed the cans . I have a running picture account at the Berettaforum in the Smithing area. The 2d one only took me 15 minutes to remove, first one I was very nervous. Now trying to find a thread protector ( rather than an adaptor) for them.

Nice toys. The earliest ones should be C&R in a year or two. Are there any similar guns (earlier Beretta models?) that are C&R already?

Update:

Even though a Century rep said they were sold out of Beretta 71's and would not get anymore, I saw them listed on there web site and placed a order.

My FFL called me and said I have a package from Century. Going to pick it up next week.

Going to order a 1/2x20 adapter from Silencer shop this weekend.

Will post pictures when I get in my hand and also when I get the fake can off.

have you gotten the silencer shop adapter? i am wondering if its the best way to go. there are other adapters out there too.

im going to get an adapter too, but my issue is whether its all going to be concentric with no shoulder to square the adapter to. if the threads were cut properly, it should tighten down fine as the threads transition to regular barrel, and it wont come loose if properly torqued and loc-tited. i am just going to be damn careful checking for suppressor alignment before firing it.

Picked up the Beretta 71 today. Looks pretty good. Going to work on taking off the Fake can this weekend. Hope my adapter arrives pretty soon too.

Third pic shows what I am pretty sure is the welded over hex bolt location.

Ok got the fake can off today. Took about 1/2 hour. Only needed a file, #2 metric allen wrench, and a mapp torch. The 1/2x20 to 1/2x28 adapter fits good ( see pictures). Will give the gun with my sparrow later this week.

The Beretta 70 series have a fixed barrel. I've got one, they are very good guns - and excellent with a suppressor.
I have a Beretta M70 in 22LR & 32acp, but have never seen threaded barrels ... any help/ideas?

have you mounted up the sparrow to your adapter yet? i would be curious to see how the bore alignment looked with the thread adapter and the can on the barrel. i should have mine all done by the end of the week, so ill see how it goes.

Mounted the adater and screwed the Sparrow on tonight. Bore alignment looked really good.
