Beretta 84F or Walther PPK380?

I have never owned a PPK, but i did own an 84f. I sold it, and it is the one gun that I wish I had back. 100% reliable and deadly accurate.

The two pistols really aren't comparable.
The Walther PPK was designed for discreet carry, it was a smaller version of the Walther PP was was designed as a Police duty weapon worn in a belt holster...both were chambered in .32ACP.
The Beretta 84 was also designed to be worn and carried in belt holster. It's nod to the American market was the chambering in .380 and the staggered magazine for higher capacity.
In feel and function, the Beretta, being a more modern design, is a better gun

The PPK is smaller, but yet weighs about the same as the Beretta. The Beretta holds 6+1, the Beretta holds 13+1. The PPK bites, the 84 doesn't. IMO the Beretta trigger is better. Both are quality guns, offer good accuracy, sights are similar, but I prefer the Beretta, especially if "shooter friendly" is a consideration.

Have owned and carried both a Walther PP,..and a Beretta 84. I carried the Walther for almost 20 years and sold it when I acquired the Beretta. The Walther was a great gun. The Beretta was 84 was better. My 2 cents worth.
The Beretta M85 would be a better comparison as it is single stack. The Beretta 84/85 series is superior to the Walther PP/PPK pistols. I have a Walther PP and a Beretta M85FS which I carry often. The Walther hasn't been out of my safe in years. The Beretta is one of the best .380's if not THE best out there.

My wife is looking for a .380. She did not like the Walther at all. She ended up comparing the Browning BDA to the 84FS and has decided on the 84fs.

The BDA is nice but the safety on the Beretta beats the BDA by a long shot.
The 84 safety is positioned perfectly on the frame, swipes down the way they should and is large enough to not miss a beat but unobtrusive all at the same time. Beretta did a fabulous job with it. If you miss swiping the safety on the draw with the 84, you must be missing your thumb.
You can always knock the the safety off after decocking and it's just like a revolver but the safety on the 84 is so natural, you'd really have to be a dope to miss it or forget it. IMO

I've had a German made PPK, and a US made one, and I've had three 84's and a BDA, and the 84 or BDA is much better, IMO. I think the 84/BDA is the best .380 out there, regardless of price. I would give a slight edge to the 84 because of the open slide, but I never had a single issue with my BDA that wasn't due to bad ammo..
I saw a guy shooting about a year ago at a local range, he had a blue 84, with a rail he made himself added to the front dust cover. It looked factory. He's one of those guys that makes all kinds of stuff himself when he can't buy it. I wish I had the ability to do something like that. I could make something that would work, but it wouldn't look perfect like that guy's stuff did. He had a small red laser on it and it looked like he had it sighted in just about perfectly. I wanted to ask him if he made more of them and to see how it was attached, but he got out the door and was gone before I realized it.

I had a Sig P238 but had problems with it and returned it to Sig and they sent me a new one. It would be the ideal CC pistol if it was reliable. Haven't even had the new one out of box. May go to Cabela's tomorrow and see what kind of trade I can make.
