I am thinking about buying a LEO trade in from Britain from a member someone online. It looks like it is really good shape with a factory replaced barrel and slide. It however does not have a clip. Do you think this is a fair deal at $295 shipped.

A LEO trade in from Britain? As in some UK police force used it? I would check that out thoroughly, I would be surprised if anyone in the UK is using anything other than a Hi-Power or Glock. They aren't super friendly to or current on handgun technology and models.

After that hurdle, based on US military tests of the M9 (essentially the same pistol), by the time the barrel and slide wear, the frame is probably ready to crack also.

Assuming you're in the US, CDNN is selling the AT-92 from American Tactical Imports, which is a Turkish Yavuz 16, which is an essentially perfect identical clone of the early-1990's Beretta 92. I have one, quality is great, apart from markings you couldn't tell it from a Beretta. That would be brand new for about the same price - they are $299 at CDNN.

Here is the ad:

The Beretta M9 slide is rated to 35,000 rounds, where the military ceases testing. The frame is rated to 30,000 rounds. The locking block is 22,000 rounds.

Thats odd, the standard 92/96 series has a 4.9" barrel. The Vertec, Elites, Border Marshal have 4.7" barrels and the Centurion and Compacts have 4.3" barrels. If its a 92F or FS, its a good deal. If its a 92S or SB, its a excellent deal and if its a 92D(Double action only), its an average deal. Mecgar magazines are the same, if not better quality than the factory mags and they run ~$20 a piece in the States.

Get more info.

Pretty much my point. The important point here is that expected slide life exceeds expected frame life, so if the slide failed then the frame is probably living on borrowed time. Hence my comment.

OP, are you in the US or elsewhere? If you're in the US, importing a gun from the UK is going to be a huge hassle costing far more than a new Beretta, unless you happen to be a US servicemember currently in the UK (in which case there is apparently a special provision making it far easier to buy a gun in a foreign country). If you're in the US and this gun is in the UK, run. If you can import it at all, you will probably run up at least several hundred dollars in costs dealing with shipping, customs, BATFE forms approval, etc.
