We got a flyer in the ads today from a local gun store.

They were advertising police trade Berettas.

So I drove up there to check them out.

Checked out one in very good mechanical condition. The bore was still crisp and bright, the safety/decock was excellent and so was the trigger & hammer action. The firing pin and everything else inside looked great... so I bought it ($300).

There's a lot of wear on the finish on the back of the grip, and it has an old heavily worn set of rubber Hogue grips on it which I'll replace soon.

Fired off two full 15 round clips when I got home. Flawless performance and VERY accurate. I'm very pleased with it.

It would be no problem for me to carve my own, but I think I'll just buy a set of factory originals in plastic.

    Are 92F mags compatible with a 92FS?

You can usually find original 92FS grips on ebay for peanuts. The 92F magazine will fit.

$300 is a very good deal...........If I had only know this would happen when I paid MSRP back in Nov. 1991..........

    Wolfman,
If these magazines are the ones you are talking about, I wish you would have asked. They appear to be the ones designed for a heel release.

The enlargement of this particular magazine appears to be one that can be used in either pistol, so you may get lucky.

Not to worry though, CDNN can either cancel your order, or you can modify them to work with the triggerguard mag release if needed.

Back when the Beretta 92 was undergoing military trials, the magazine release was raised to the triggerguard at the request of the US military. In the States this gun became the 92F. In Italy, the pistol still had a heel mag release. During the early days of the AWB, there were those of us who took the Italian 92F magazines and cut a notch in them to allow them to be used on the American 92FS guns. I still have a couple of my Italian 92F mags that were modified thusly.

Yep......compared my old ones to the screen and apparently the "sand resistant" hole is the old Italian 92F mag release hole. The uper slot is cut in the correct place though.

    Good for you!

Yes they are compatiable, as are mags from the 92SB (predecessor of the 92F series).

    All the best,

The 90-Two magazines fit as well. They will fit any 92 that uses a full-size double stack magazine and has the magazine release behind the trigger guard.

The Sand Resistant mags advertised by CDNN do fit and function in a Beretta 92FS - they are not for heel release guns

I compared CDNN's Italian Beretta mags I ordered to the italian mag that's in the pistol and they look identical.

It came with two extra mags of american make which do not have the extra hole.

They're heavily used and a little beat up but they still function fine.

My three new mags arrived in the mail today.

They are blued steel , 15 round, made by Meccanica Del Sarca, and distributed by Beretta.

    They fit and function perfectly.

If that is correct, those mags should probably fit in all doble stack versions of the model 92 series that were manufactured after 1981, from the 92SB up through the current models.

Here is some info found at Gunpedia (wish I knew about this site before, looks interesting). I will not swear to correctness, but it appears to be on the money regarding the models I have seen (found at http://guns.wikia.com/wiki/Beretta_92)

I must admit, I do like my Berettas. I have owned about four to six Beretta Jetfires, one Beretta model 21, two Beretta 70S, one beretta 92SB, and two Beretta 92FS pistols.

    All the best,

Speaking of grips for the Model 92.
I sure wish Ergo Grip would make grips for these guns like the kind they offer for 1911 pistols.
I think they would be about perfect, and unbreakable too!:)

I can assure you that CDNN's sand resistant magazines fit the 92FS - I have several of them. They are identical to normal Beretta factory magazines, with the exception of the finish, which is smooth, unlike the rougher phosphate finish of other factory mags.
