Beretta 96 vs Beretta 90-Two

So I just committed to a nice Beretta 96 (as shown in the sale thread on this forum). I had also wanted a 90-Two but for now the 96 will have to do. However, I may get the 96 and decide that I love it. What's the gist of the difference between the 96 and 90-Two? Which would you prefer? Are they all that different with the exception of aesthetics and the front rail? Thanks for any info.

Yes, I'm referring to both in .40 S&W.

I think its mostly looks and the 90-two uses some polymer. Mechanically they should be the same.

Gander mountain sold me a new Ninety Two on clearance a couple of years ago and I love it. A 5 inch barreled 40S&W hits hard and is very controllable. However the 96 is easy to find after market parts for and looks more conventional. I would go with the best price unless you plan on modifying, then the 96.

Another consideration - converting to .357sig. I have a 96 and Beretta does not recommend converting it to .357sig. I have no idea that their recommendations are for the ninety-two.
