My understanding is that it’s for the 1301 (but fits on the UP) which has a different height front blade and so does not work well with the UP. Let me know if I’m wrong and I might change mine over.
The Beretta adjustable sight arrived today. Before I mounted it, I took some measurements.
The old fixed sight is 0.650" from the center of the sight base to the top of the ghost ring. By comparison, the new adjustable sight measures a minimum of 0.670" and a maximum of 0.875" above the center of the sight base. And the ghost ring on the adjustable sight is a bit smaller in diameter than the fixed sight (0.190" vs 0.220").
I also measured the height of the front sight: 0.875" from the inside of the choke tube to the center of the light pipe.
It turns out that the adjustable sight has plenty of adjustment to center shots from my gun. After adjusting the sights for this Rio load:
Two shots from 25 yards grouped like this:
Two shots from 50 yards looked like this
Two shots looked like this from 100 yards (the spread at 100 was all me)
I then switched to this load:
Two slugs at 25 yards, two slugs at 50 yards, and three slugs at 100 yards yielded these results. (I wish that I had called the head shot from 100 yards, but it was just luck.)
I also shot some Federal "Law Enforcement" tactical slugs with similar results:
Bottom line, my A300 UP shoots rifled slugs to POA using Beretta's adjustable rear sight. This is much better than the 6" low and 6" to the right produced at 50 yards using the stock, non-adjustable rear sight.
Oh, and my gun continues to be absolutely, solidly, steadily, 100% reliable with every type of ammo I've run through it. I've put perhaps 400 rounds through it so far.
I'm a bit disappointed that Beretta did not include these adjustable sights from the factory (like the outstanding sights on my Mossberg 590 tactical), but at least the adjustable sights were available as a replacement.
