Just saw a new Beretta 22 M9 for sale. Looks awesome. Looked at a couple reviews that seem positive and It comes with a 15 round mag. Its made by Umerex but I don't think that's a deal breaker.

I have room for another 22 cal so...

I found a scorching deal online for it so it would be great to know what people think that may have purchased one. Please let me know what you think and if you recommend it.

Thanks for the help!

hopefully the mods will allow:
I have a large thread on another forum, detailing my on-going experience with it.

for the TL;DR crowd:
4 years old now, 7,670 rounds later, broke twice needing the factory to fix.
Still a love shooting it, don't regret buying it, might buy another one with the threaded barrel and fake suppressor at some point.

I was looking for a plinker to match my Beretta 92FS ergo.
However, few years ago were hard to come by and expensive.
They started manufacturing it outside Beretta factory (lowering the price), subtracting the adjustable sights and zamac compound on the slide, so sadly passed and I moved forward.

So it was cheapened and made out of inferior metals?
Zamak (a zinc/aluminum alloy) has been used for many years by gunmakers for everything from receivers to small parts- mostly in Germany, but the old Saturday night specials such as Bryco, Jensen, and Raven were also zinc-based. Today, Ruger uses zamak for the Wrangler grip frame and Pheonix and Hipoints are largely zamak.

There are several different alloys in the Zamak family, some are better than others. The cheapest are generally referred to as "pot metal." Some are remarkably resistant to corrosion, others oxidize badly dependending on the mixture. My biggest issue with zinc is that it crystalizes relatively quickly compared to other materials, and becomes brittle over time.

I tend to keep my guns for the long haul, so for me this is a non-starter. For a cheap, short-service life plinker, though, zamak may be just fine.

it should be noted that the chippa version is significantly worse than the one from beretta. They are not even remotely comparable. The former is absolute junk.
