Beretta Stampede .45 LC

Even though the guns made today are made with modern Steel they are still SAA clones. The Beretta Stampede will shoot the hottest .45 Colt loads that are still within the SAAMI pressure limits. If you want to shoot very hot Ruger, T/C Contender loads you will have to buy a Ruger or Contender.

I have a original Ruger Vaquero and it will shoot .45 Colt loads which are as hot as .44 Magnum rounds. I also have a "New" Vaquero I wouldn't think of shooting those loads in because the New Vaquero is made more like the Colt SAA and the Beretta Stampede you are looking at.
 
I had a Beretta Marshall (3.5" barrel) that I often shot with a Uberti Cattleman (4.75"). The Beretta commanded much tighter groups at 15 yards. The Beretta's block sights helped.
 
As has been mentioned, the Beretta Stampede is just a Colt SAA clone with a transfer bar. It will not handle "Ruger-only" .45 Colt loads. However, there is way more to the standard-pressure .45 Colt load than what we think of today as "cowboy loads." Standard pressure will drive a 250 - 255 grain lead bullet to over 1000 ft/sec in a 7.5" barrel, providing much of the KE of typical .357 Magnum loads, but far more deep-penetrating momentum.
 
I've been eyeing the Uberti .45 LC Revolvers also...


Looks like a very nice way to have a good quality, good looking, period-correct-enough, affordable SA...


The 'Bisley' Version is also pretty tempting.
 
I have both a Beretta Stampede (the Marshall version pictured above, but with the Old West finish) and three Ubertis with the millenium finish. I really like both brands, and would recommend either. Strickly for use with standard pressure rounds, though. Cowboy loads are a class of ammo that is mildly loaded, so avoid them if you want more power. Cowboy loads are not synonymous with 45 Colt, they are designed for use in shooting competitions and have minimal recoil to aid in quickly reacquiring sight picture on targets.They're well below SAAMI limits. But Uberti and Stampedes are not relegated to cowboy loads. As EnsignJimmy stated, the 45 Colt round is good and powerful in standard form, without exceeding SAMI specs.
 
I shoot Beretta Stampede 357s in CAS matches. Made by Uberti (which is owned by Beretta), the Stampedes are different in design than most SAA clones, with a safety bar inside the hammer.

They are sturdy revolvers, I shoot both the wimpy CAS loads and the full-power 357 Mags through mine. No issues over 3 years and 1000s of rounds.

I bought the Deluxe versions, the bluing and the painted-on Color Case Hardened look caught my eye.

I wasn't impressed when I checked them out at the shot show. I was interested in them also, but liked the ruger vaquaro better

Thats what I mean, I have seen lots of cheaper .45colt revolvers that are not safe with anything more than that really. I really like the one I posted above, and the price seems attractive, I may get one just for shooting standard ammo through (I reload) and get a ruger to hot rod with.
 
Stampede

i have a stamped and do NOT buy one just after a few hundred medium cast loads the reciever is JUNK ... and it cant be repaired !!!!!!!! the face around the firing pin has a recessed area like a small doughnut and it causes the primers to flow into it causing the cylinder NOT to turn and after hours tring to find a person at Beretta to talk to ..i get told they cant fix the gun F the stampede and Beretts!!! JUNK JUNK JUNKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
 
Before dealing with beretta give them a call and talk to a person! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA P.S.........yes im just a tad upset with the gun and the company ... Buy a Thompson center Ive had 3 for over twenty years THOUSANDS of rounds thru them and the ONLY problem ive ever had was....i shot out a barrel whch they replaced with a FREE brand new one from the custom SHOP!!! BUY T/C If you want the power to knock something down check out the calibers!!! The Burris Company also sux ! Beretta bought them out ...lifetime warrenty??...they replaced my scope with a differant model cuz they dont make MY lifetime warrenty scope any more ...they were going to take parts from a scraped out scope to fix mine !! and a great big LOL to that ! So i have a replacement scope sitting in a box!!! All of my contenders DO shoot one-hole groups at 100 yards from a rest oopps except the .22 Im poor so i did do the shopping around and guess what ...my money goes to T/C They have it set up so one gun in all ..shotgun....rifle...pistol. One hole...?...less than the size of a dime ..im sure thier tighter groups but i wobble a little. Enuff said Get a T/C PERIOD
 
I have a 5.5" standard model, nickel and wood. Good fit and finish, shoots well. Next time I'll but the one that says Uberti on it to skip the transfer bar.

As far as strength, as others have said, they won't take the real heavy stuff, but loads developing around 600 ft/lbs. really aren't "hot". I run 250 gr. Gold Dots at just shy of 1,100 FPS for a woods load.
