My only planned gun purchase for 2023 was a competition quality .22 and I was excited to pick up a new Bergara B14R earlier this month. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to check the muzzle threads until after I installed a scope. THEN I discovered the problem.

The thread protector was really hard to remove. Sort of felt like there was thread locker on the threads. I immediately thought, “Rats. Somebody cross threaded the protector.” Sure enough, the threads are visibly damaged and my suppressor won’t thread on.

I sent a message to Customer Service last night. Hoping for prompt support. Will update when I hear back from them.

I’ve had one issue with a Bergara rifle. Customer service was very prompt. I hope yours is the same.

I have an issue with a Bergarra barrel and have gotten a complete run around for months. Then they finally ghosted me. I hope your experience is better than mine. Bergarra will not get another dime from me.

Well, I got a prompt reply at 6:49 this morning, asking for pictures of the threads. I'm already at work, so that will have to wait until this evening. But I'm encouraged by the response.

I would think they will make that right.

I returned one rifle to them because it wasn't as accurate as I expected. They were prompt and easy to deal with. They did tweak some things and returned the rifle with a target showing an impressive 3 shot group. With $60/box ammo that is currently unobtainable. I couldn't get it to shoot acceptable with any of my handloads, so I let it go.

    Bergara's LOOK good, but I'm 1 out of 3 with them and won't be buying a 4th.

I'm hopeful. My other Bergara is a Premier HMR Pro in 6.5 PRC. It shoots lights out.

    Yep, they're damaged.

I hope it works out for you. I bought a Bergara B14 Ridge last year and it shows a lot of promise with commercial ammo. I look forward to handloading for it to truly test it.

That sucks man. Just had my B14R out today. Shot it out to just under 300 yards today.

I havent taken my thread protector off. Might need to check that soon.

Good communication thus far. They sent me a RMA and shipping label today. They anticipate 30 days or less for the repair.

They should just put a new barrel on it and return it toot sweet.

A thread chaser would fix that, but you’re right, you shouldn’t have to do that on a new gun. Remember to get a new thread protector when you get the new barrel or you’ll be right back where you started.

A thread chaser would make it usable, but not, IMHO, "fix" it.

I pulled the barreled action out of the stock and sent it on its way today. Fingers crossed …

That don't look too bad I'd run a die over the threads and send it. Quicker and easier than sending a rifle back for repairs. I though in original post they were destroyed.

I had a problem with my BXR. They corrected it right away and paid everything. The BXR performs reliably now.

Got it back and reassembled. It appears they chased the threads, probably on both the barrel and the thread protector. The protector felt a bit gritty when screwing it off, but a good cleaning of the threads on both the barrel and the protector did the trick. Suppressor spins on easily.

I'm ambivalent. Glad to have it fixed but I should not have had the problem. Had I not had reason to remove the thread protector, I might not have discovered the issue for years. A new barrel would have been the optimal solution, but I'm happy that they corrected the problem.

So now I just need to clear a time in my schedule to get the scope sighted in and see how she shoots.

Try 4 or 5 different match ammo choices and see what it likes, mine liked Center-X over SK Rifle Match, Long Range, and Standard Plus.

Different choices may have turned out differently

Glad to hear they took care of the issue.

I was warming up today and shot my B14R at 100 yards. The stars aligned and I shot the smallest group since I bought it a few years ago. It is just one group but I'll take it :)
