I am starting to reload 30-30 and have questions. I have Berry’s 150 grain bullets with a max speed of 2000 fps. I plan to use TAC because that’s what I have. I am planning to do a COAL of 2.520 and stay under 29 grains of TAC. Do any of you have experience with this combo?

No information but I want to try them. By all indications TAC works well in 30-30. I’ve heard the 150s work well with some cast load levels and magnum pistol powders.

26 grains of tac at max Sammi length to ease the jump with a lite roll crimp did good... I load them now with blue dot, 15.8 ifn I recall....

Before I made any up to shoot I would make a couple dummy rounds to assure they will feed from the tube and not lock things up as well as fit the chamber. I will be interested as to how they work. I am using up some 170 grain Lasercast that I purchased years ago that worked well. Always used IMR 3031 to load all my 30-30 ammo though.

Are you saying to start with 26 grains or that’s what you have loaded with TAC?

I used 15 of blue dot. I found I could shoot them at full velocity with 3031 from two micro groove marlins. But a 94 and 64 win couldn't.

As stated in post #4 make sure a dummy or 2 will fit and cycle. I've loaded and shot that bullet in my 94's. Can't honestly at this hr remember which powder I used. But It was very accurate out to about 150 yds. After that all bets were off. I was a shooting steel silhouette match that day.

I definitely spent time cautiously working that up and running GRT making sure there was no boom. I actually found another node around 16.4 but for these efforts extra was not needed...

It is my cast 170 load and where I would start for a 150. You'll likely end up higher. I don't think you'll be able to number chase es/SD at the reduced pressures with tac at the reduced speeds required.... that's why I use mag pistol powders with the Berry's. I can get up to higher pressure before I hit the speed limit.
