Bersa .22 pistols.

Does anyone out there have a Bersa .22lr? I just bought a Bersa 23 in nickel and it a one sweet pistol! It is very accurate but has a tendency to jam a round into the bottom of the feedramp every once in a while.

What can be done to fix this? I think the problem is, the mag safty is forcing the clip down enough to cause the rounds to hit the bottom of the feed ramp. If I push the mag into the gun, I can feel it move about 1/8 upward and it feeds flawlessly everytime. It it a pain to remove the mag safty on this gun?

Also are grips and clips interchangeable between the model 23 and the newer Thunder .22 pistols from Bersa? How is the quality on the Thunder compared to the older 23? I like the 23 and since they are so hard to find, I was think about getting a Thunder in .22.

Bersa Thunder22 vs. Model 23...

On the issue of the grips, there is at least one difference, that being the external slide release on the Thunder22 that isn't present on the model 23. The comparison that I can see from the pictures from the manual I had for my Bersa model 85(that has pictures of the other Bersa models of that era), appears to the same except for the aforementioned slide release. That would mean that if you could locate/purchase a set of wood grips that were for a model 23 and if frame/grip screw alignments matched, you would have to then notch the upper left front corner of said panel for relief of the area the slide release occupies on the Thunder22. Comparing the tech data from the manuals of the Thunder22 and the model 23, all dimensions listed(H,W,L, barrel L, etc.) list as the same.

As for the FTF/jam issue, the mag problem is the same that I suffer with one mag on my Thunder22. I haven't been able to come up with a fix(yet). On the mag interchange, I'm not sure. Perhaps someone else has a line on that topic.

I got Thunder 22 grips for my model 23 and they fit perfectly. I like the wrap-around feature of the newer grip design-finger grooves around the front of the grip really help gain a good hold. Don't know about interchangeability of mags...I've ordered from Bersa (for the model 23) and bought off eBay and had no problems.

Thanks for the replys. I found out that the Thunder mags will work in the 23. So the grips and clips ARE interchangeable, that is good news.

Now, does anyone have any experience with removing the mag safety?
