Best 22 for Junior CMP target

    Looking at getting my boy into CMP Junior .22 matches. What rifle?

    depends on the shooting...but it is hard to go wrong with a kimber 82..they come cheap and with the right set up (scope) can be extremely accurat.... but it is a heavy, bull barrel, single shot...

    +1 for the kimber!!!:cool:

    Depending upon the size of your son, you may want to consider the Russian Izhmash CM-2 Cadet. It comes with a fully adjustable trigger and precision aperture sights that include multiple inserts.

    While MT Guns still lists them on their web site at $585 plus $15 shipping, R&R Arms has theirs priced at $770 and they are out of the Cadet model. If you're interested you can call MT Guns. They're good people to deal with.

    The Cadet is a very accurate single shot competition rifle. Here's a composite of targets I shot with mine at 75 and 100 yards.

    Yes I had wondered about the Kimber 82 that CMP has. He is 6 ft and 170 lbs. 16 years old
