a marlin 25m is my shoots decent and keep it gun. while i have had a win lever gun and a cz they always get sold for the money they are worth later on. bob

"Best" = Anschutz!

The LAST one I'd buy is the Henry pump, their levers are great rifles, but the pumps in 22 magnum are not!

I am a bigger fan of the .22 Hornet than the WMR so I would probably just get a .22 WMR barrel for my CZ 455, to go with the .17 HMR and .22 LR barrels I already have for it.

If we get to pick from the ones we like in this thread, I pick #18.

Title of this thread is "Best .22wmr rifle" In most references to rifles best usually means most accurate. Anschutz has well earned reputation as the most accurate rimfire rifles available, so I suspect that a best choice would be something like this Anschutz M-1522. Beautiful. Too bad they discontinued that model. I do believe they make a model in that Caliber but they are hard to come by.

If you hold the trigger down on a Rossi Pump you can dump that tube magazine as fast as a semi-auto. Maybe Henry pumps will do the same, but I don't own one. Henry pump action rifles are more expensive, but are made here in the USA. Rossi's new pumps have a slide release, unlike their originals. My Rossi .22 mag is older model that is a copy of the Winchester M62. As fast as I can work the pump, it will fire. The Henry pump receiver allows one to mount a scope.

Bolt actions may be more accurate. I would expect this to be the case.

Lever action rifles have that nostalgic look, plus many are quite accurate.

Henry pumps have such a poor design for pumping, that they are "sticky" because they don't have the mechanical advantage to work smoothly, especially in 22 magnum.

The Henry pumps are nothing more than their levers, converted into a pump, they were never designed to be a pump action, so they are nothing like an action that started out to be a pump.

I have a CZ512 semi. I like it. My Henry pump requires lots of force to work the action. I don’t like it, so it collects dust. There are so many excellent choices.

The 22 magnum that gets shot the most around here is my Remington 597M semi auto.

It's very accurate and has never failed to fire or jam even one time in all the years I've owned it.

Best overall, or best value?

There are the ultra-premium critters like the Anschutz on the last page or the Coopers and Kimbers. They do not disappoint, but they also carry a hefty price tag.

Then there are guns like the Marlin 25M. Kinda plain Jane, not gonna dazzle anyone when you pull it out, but they're shooters.

I just inherited a few guns from my dad's cousin(more like an uncle).
One is a Marlin 783?
22mag bolt action with a backa$$wards safety. It has splendid wood. I put a rimfire 3-9 scope on it but have yet to fire it....but I've never seen a Marlin that wouldn't shoot good.

Don't forget ULA,

I like my Marlin 25M and Ruger American Predator they both shoot well, the Ruger is nicer overall and has a threaded barrel for a suppressor. I'd probably get rid of the Marlin but I have a lot of good memories with that one.

Put a Bergara B14R on order yesterday!

I've had a 94/22 since the `90's and love it. Also had a 77/22 varmint model and really liked it but ended up trading it. Wish I had it back. The Savage MKII/93 is very good, have three of them but not in .22Mag. Got the GoWild version of the Ruger American a couple years ago and it's a good one as well. Was elated to find Ruger making 15rd mags for them.

The forged steel Winchester XTR 9422M is the best ;):

I just cannot do the Henry thing with those pot metal Zamak receivers. But an XTR is going to run some money, quality always does.

I thought the same thing for years. Then one day I decided to try one. Then I started having problems with it almost immediately. Then I got another. Then I started having problems with it almost immediately. Seems I was right all along. Sticking with my Winchester 94/22's from here on out.

I have a Marlin 883, Ruger 77/22 VBZ, Ruger American Compact, and a CZ 455 LUX.

The Marlin was one of my truck guns in TX and is a great shooter. The tube magazine is a bit hard to load inside the cab, but it is very accurate and holds lots or rounds. The Ruger 77/22 VBZ is probably my favorite. It shoots like a dream and I like the weight of it. The Ruger American Compact is what I shoot the most these days. I have it set up for non-lead ammo and it is light and handy. Finally the CZ LUX is also fun and wears iron sights only. I picked this up as a combo barrel for my .22 LR LUX. I mostly shoot .22 LR's, but it is fun to switch over to the magnum.

.22 Mag rifles are great tools for the outdoors. They are a noticeable step up form the .22 LR, work much better on varmints in the 10-30 pound category, and are accurate.

There are some great choices listed on this thread; let us know what you choose.
