Best aftermarket stock for a SKS

I like the SKS, but at 6'6" tall, the standard stock just isn't long enough for me, and I can't see where a scope is a viable option on this gun. Any tall people out there who have had luck with aftermarket stocks that have a longer trigger pull length? The various Monte Carlo stocks look pretty good as I'm more interested in ease of shooting then looking tactical.

I'm 6'-3" and I've had good results with the monte carlo style stocks. But that little spacer you add to the rear of the factory stock works wonders as well

Adding a spacer or slip-on recoil pad (or both) to the standard stock might do the trick.

when I got my dad's 1955 Russian sks, it had the ATI monte carlo style stock on it.It was really nice and comfortable, and looked good to, and it did seem to add a couple inches of length.I only took it off because the original stock, and the rest of the gun were 100% mint, so I wanted it back all orginal to have as a really nice example of an orignal sks for my collection.

I'm 6'5" and the most comfortable SKS stock I've used is the Choate Dragunov stock. It's expensive and it isn't a standard style stock, but it has a good LOP, is well shaped, and fits the gun precisely.

+1 for the Choate Drag stock, my father has one on my old SKS. It's the best stock around for an SKS that I've encountered. Has several inserts to adjust the LOP, and looks really good. Notice that the pistol grip is split down the middle so you mount the stock to the gun and then affix the other half the pistol grip. Eliminates the funky looking and feeling long reach for the trigger on lesser stocks.

I hear the Tapco T6 is fairly nice too, but I haven't handled one.

I'm 6'2". My SKS has a Butler creek stock on it. It fit very well, and helped the accuracy a bit. I have another one with an ATI folding stock. It's a waste of money. Though the stock is well made, the action fits loose, thus accuracy suffers badly. I will be replacing it shortly.

I added the butt extender for my SKS. Got it from Cheaper Than Dirt for about 10 bucks. It has an access hole for the tool kit. That done the trick. Acadamy sells slip on pads for around the same amount but they might be too tight.

Save your stock money and buy ammo.

only i spent alot more for mine

if you leave the removable cheek rest off, they work great for irons. or put it on and use a scope.

im with the op on the necessity of a scope on an sks though.

btw, thumbs down for the ati version. there is a hump on the back that wont let you do a quick field strip cleaning without first removing the stock.
