Two ammo questions.

If price WERE NOT a factor who makes the best all around ammo?

If price WERE a factor?

I'm thinking Hornady would be towards the top and Wolf would be towards the bottom.

Anyone else?

For me, Blazer Brass is right on the threshold of acceptable for range fodder. I've never used Wolf or Russian Bear or whatever.

CCI/Speer for me.

From Blazer Brass to Lawman to Gold Dot, they provide a good product at every price-point.

Of course, were price not a factor, then I'd just go with Gold Dot every time :D

Cor-Bon seems to make a quality product, especially the DPX line.

When you factor in price I like CCI/Speer and Federal for handguns. Black Hills is nice for rifles.

If price were no factor, and supply was plentiful,

Black Hills, red or blue box, as both are excellent.

I am a big fan of Speer for two reasons:

1) Quality
2) History

Speer was started by one guy (Vern Speer) in his garage in the '40s when no one else was making reloading components for the average joe. The company has been there for the reloader/shooter with products and reloading data for decades, and done it when NO ONE else was doing it or giving out the data like they were.

As time goes by these things get forgotten, but give Speer some of its due.

I also really like Hornady and Federal, and use a lot of Winchester components. But I really respect Speer more than the other manufacturers.

Federal, by far.

Cheapest reliable stuff I've bought is Ultramax reloads. I don't use Wolf or other steel cased ammo.

Depends on what it is.

For SD pistol ammo Hornady and Speer usually get my money... that's as close to cost no object as I can think of. Remington and Federal would be next in line.

For hunting ammo, I would tend to reload, but again Hornady and Federal get my money.

Match Ammo is almost always Federal.

Range fodder is generally WWB.

From top to bottom, Winchester makes very good stuff, in my book. Centerfire, rimfire, rifle, pistol, they have something cheap and something premium. And all of it works pretty well.

ATK in the US. Hornady comes in second. Remington is #3 overall although I buy far more Remington ammo than Hornady.

The best bang for the buck lately has been the Prvi Partizan stuff. It's leaps and bounds better than the wolf crap, and I can't really tell a difference between it and federal.
