Best AR15 case recommendations?

for a hard case, pellican is hard to beat, watertight, airtight, throw it off the roof and it keeps the inside safe. But it is very pricey. softcase, go with blackhawk

I have a 5.11 36" soft case that I really like.

I don't fly with it, and the rifle gets stored in the safe. Its a great travel/range bag.

I'll second the pelican. Not just for ar15s but anything you actually want, long term. I have a bunch of pelican cases and while they are expensive and heavy, they last for decades in real use.

On the soft side my only advice is to avoid airsofter junk. There are a bunch of clonesoft cases that are worst of all worlds... expensive ($100+), cheaply made (snagging zippers, untaped seams, etc.), and broadcasting ".mil wanabe" on all frequencies. You are better off with a $35 Allen or the like.

Thanks guys. I looked into Storm hard shell cases that came with Mobile Armory soft cases and...............DANG!!!!! Super expensive, maybe if I won the lotto.

I'll look into your suggestions, it's mainly for an M4.

don't store your gun in a pelican or other airtight case w/o appropriate anti-moisture/rust precautions

The general advice I've seen is that you don't want to store guns in bags or cases where material is in contact with most of the weapon because oil will be wicked away and moisture can be trapped. Airflow all around, if possible.

My own experience is that climate matters. You can get away with a lot in an area where 40%RH is considered "muggy" and single digit humidity is common. Apply those same practices in an area where drink coasters aren't just an affectation and you'll be sorry.

YMMV
