$30 for a Winchester model 1906 .22 S/L/LR...

Woman at the flea market got to keep anything she wanted when she was paid by relatives to clean out houses after the owners had died...She sold it to me for that price because it was 'broken'...I walked away from her table, slid it together, and tightened the thumb screw...

$125 for a Marlin 1894PG...

Guy I went to high school with had it, and it had taken a tumble down his cellar stairs...Butt stock was broken clean...I told him he could replace the stock for $100, but he wanted nothing to do with it due to his disgust with himself for dropping it...He only wanted $100, but I gave him what I did as I knew I could part out the Pistol Grip parts for at least twice that...I epoxied the stock, and added it to the collection the way it is...

Best deal for me was a colt diamondback 2 1/2" .38spcl for $350, at a time when the gun was going for about $1k

Or a $300 pawnshop ppk that, after research, turned out to be a 4th version rsha ppk...basically in the serial number range of the ppk's known to have been issued to the nazi SS during ww2. No idea what that's worth, more than I paid though.

And the one that stings...an m2 scout for $125 that I turned around and sold for $150 Because I didn't know it was a $600-$700 gun.

No screaming deals but some decent buys:

Browning Model 1910-Mint, no pouch-$300.
Baby Browning-Mint, box and paperwork, Lightweight Model-$399.
S&W Model 34-Mint, box and paperwork-$399.
Rossi Model 92-Like New, box and paperwork-$320

All numbers (including stocks) matching Brazilian 1917 for $125 many years ago.
Same guy, Savage 340 30-30 for $60
Ruger Mk1 .22 for $100

Yugo M 48 in excellent condition for $180. Co worker wanted $300 and I gave him all the cash I had on me. Said he would see me the next day for the rest. Never saw him again. When I returned to work a couple days later I found he had quit and ran off with another co-workers wife and moved to Houston. Never answered E Mail or voice mail.
Picked up a 5" pinned square butt nickel Model 10 in really great condition last year at a gun show for $400. Only flaw was some minor flecking on the ejector rod which is barely noticeable now.

Hi...
Have stumbled onto a couple of good deals over the years.
Paid $300 for a used S&W 686 Silhouette Model.
Paid $350 for an unfired nickel Colt Combat Commander.
Paid $300 for a shooter grade Luger with mismatched grips.

Just remembered that I once bought athree S&W N-frames for $900. A Model 25, a Model 57 and a Model 29.
Older fellow walked into my friends gun shop with about a dozen handguns he wanted to sell while we were sitting there talking.
He bought all of the handguns for whatever he paid for them and I picked out the three N- frames and after a little discussion I bought them for $900. There was also a Model 27 but my gun fund wouldn't stretch quite that far.

Bought a Delta Elite 10mm in 1998 from the guy that bought it new a few years earlier. He shot all of 5 rounds through it and decided it was not for him. Gave him $425 for it. Just sold it for $1200.
Bought a Remington 581 for $75 in 1992. They were no longer being produced by then. It had been stored in a soft case for years and had rusted pretty good. After a complete refinish ,it will put 10 rounds in a quarter size group at 75 yards. It's still my favorite squirrel/rabbit rifle

No screaming deals, but a few decent ones here and there. Last year, an H&R 922 in good condition for $50. Got it from a co-worker, tried to give him more but he wouldn't take it.

Western Field 472 aka Marlin 336 for $75. Colt King Cobra $285. 3 CVA muzzleloaders in good working order for $40 each. Romanian M69 $75.

I'm always on the lookout for a deal. Picked up some real bargains in pawn shops over the years.

I had a Kimber Custom stolen from a moving and storage company while I was living overseas. I settled with the moving company's insurance and bought a new Custom II as a replacement. Three or four years later, an LA county deputy pulled my original Custom out of the waistband of a gang-banger, and eventually it was returned to me.

For whatever I paid for the Custom, I ended up with a Custom and a Custom II. Not bad.

I bought a Remington 721 in .300 H&H and 13 boxes of ammunition for $135. Rifle came with rings, sling, soft case. Ammunition was all Winchester Bronze Point or Silver Tip or similar. At that time the ammunition was around $10 +\- a box so I have around $5, or less, in the rifle.

About 20 years ago I got a SW 67 and a Ruger 44 mag Super Blackhawk for $400.
A buddy of mine gave me a Swedish Mauser carbine, he had a rifle and the carbine and offered me either/or, my choice.
I think I chose wisely...

I picked up a Ruger New Model Blackhawk .357 for $60.
A S&W SD9VE, like new for $160 and traded it straight up for a Glock 19.
Browning High Power for $300
Remington Apache 77 with green stock, un-fired in the box for $150
Glock 19X for $500
Glock 43, like new for $325
Glock 17 Gen4 like new in the box $400
High Standard Sport King for $180
Remington 870 SP Police Magnum, like new in the box, for $350
S&W US Navy Victory Mod $440
S&W Victory Mod $190
S&W Mod 10 two inch round butt $350
Webley Mk6 .455 $350
Ruger M77/22 $200
I could keep going. :)

The father of my (now ex) fiance sold me an H&R 929 that he had in his gun cabinet for about 30 years. Still had 95% or better of the original blueing, holster, hammer lock keys, and 1300 rounds of .22LR. I gave him $40 for it. It is still one of the few pieces I regret selling.

Was your Custom all beat to hell?

Walther P1 (9mm), four boxes of factory ammo and holster...$200. The pistol shows its use, but the fact of who I bought it from and the history of the gun & holster made it a good deal.(For both parties) Still functions fine and I really enjoy shooting it. (RIP my friend!)

I got a Beretta A300 Outlander 12 ga. shotgun, NIB for $20. Won a a raffle that I entered when out of state hunting with my brother. We stopped for a bite to eat and I noticed the reffle and asked what was the beneficiary? Playground equipment for the grade school. (Town of 400 souls.) Sounded like a worthy donation so gave them $20 and promptly forgot about it. 5 Months later I got a phone call that I won it. It showed up at my FFL about 3 weeks later. Only raffle I have ever won...

It wasn't in horrible shape, but did have some new scratches and dings.

The worst part was that it wasn't reliable any more. I sent it back to Kimber, told them my story, and they completely overhauled the gun and replaced a bunch of parts for something like $40. Worked flawlessly afterwards. Terrific customer service!

Repaired a small fence and a gate in trade for a little Browning .22 semi auto takedown rifle 90%. $35.00 in material.

Don't know how good this is anymore, but I bought my SAR-48HB back in 1989(?) for $640. During the AWB, I was offered $2400 for it. Had I been looking to sell, I would've jumped all over that, but it's still one of my favorite rifles.

tark

I definitely think we have the winner here!...........

Ya ain't heard mine yet!

$20 for a new in box Browning A5 Light 12. Not hot either!!

It was a raffle but money changed hands.

I also got a nice Smith 681 for comfortably under $200 and a 640 no dash for somewhere in the low/mid $200 range.

Also a really nice standard weight M1A that had been built by a guy who Plaxco called the best M1A mechanic in the US at the time. It was not his but he was offering his advice and expertise to me as a friend. The gun was originally built as a heavy barrel match rifle. I got the gun with both barrels and stocks for $1000. I felt I got a good deal at the time but not smoking. However with current prices I may be changing my mind.
