ok so i have my baby, the CZ-75b, the love of my life

now, i think i want another 9mm hand gun, but at this current time i dont want to lay down another $500+

so i have a few candidates in mind (lemme know which you would go with given the option)

Zastava EZ9 [$275ish]

Bersa Thunder 9 [$375ish]

Taurus 709 Slim (yeah yeah not FS) [$375ish]

S&W mod. 910 [$430ish] <--bit high for my budget...is it worth it?

the one that really catches my eye the most is the Bersa, but i like all listed above

thoughts?

TIA

Didn't you just get the CZ75 a week or so ago? Enjoy it! I think after shooting the CZ any of the others you listed will seem second rate. Spend the $$ on ammo and a good holster. Just sayin'...

Did you check out Ruger's 9mm's? I think bud's has them for 300-350. The Zastava would be a great choice too, or anything else from EAA for that matter. You can usually get their witness pistols new for about 300-400 bucks. Between your selections I'd definitely go with the Zastava, unless you were certain you wanted to drop the extra cash for a Smith. The S&W Sigma would be a good choice too ($350) if you can live with a not-so-great trigger.

i peruse Buds all the time, but my local dealer can pretty much order whatever i want for usually about $40-$70 less than the price on buds (but then there's markup which makes it even out; i wanna deal with him because he has a small shop, and he is a cool Nam vet)

anyways....yep have had the CZ for about a week, but i can tell she's gettin' lonely :D

I own a S&W 910. I picked up mine two years ago for $300 w/ 2 mags. $430 seems REAL high! My model 910 is the most rock solid pistol I own. It has fired everything from 125gr RNL reloads (thousands of them!) to +P+ 115gr JHP's.

Speaking of cougar8040, You could check out a Stoeger Cougar for about 350. They're made on Beretta machinery out of Turkey.

Smith and Wesson 3rd gen's in like new condition can be had in the 350 range, but are on par in quality with steel guns like Sig's and CZ's. Any of them.

Accurate, 100% reliable and well made.

I've even seen mint 5906's as low as 300, and police trade in 5906's as low as 250.

The Ruger P95 is light, accurate, and reliable. The Zastava M88 is a design based largely upon the Soviet TT33 Tokarov. The grip shape is a bit less ergonomic than the other pistols mentioned.

I have zero experience with the Bersa 9x19 guns. So, I cannot give an honest opinion of them.

Go with the Bersa Thunder compact 9mm. A great pistol at a great price. I also like the Stoeger Couger. Both great guns.

I picked up a new in box FDE FNP9 off Gunbroker for $399 last week. Seems to be the going rate right now. The FDE is the USG version that has a safety/decocker that you can carry cocked and locked like the 75B. Comes with 3 stainless mags too. Something else for you to look at. David

If you buy a Ruger or S&W you'll be sure you can get parts 20 years from now. There are other nice guns mentioned but this is something you might want to consider.

Take a look at a Sig Pro SP2009 or SP2022 (same gun, though the 2009 has a proprietary rail size.) The grips have a reputation of fitting better for biggish hands, but they're excellent for my medium mitts, so if you like the ergonomics, it's a dang fine weapon. Good feature set (decocker, night sights,) wonderful DA/SA trigger and, hey, it's a Sig.

Another +1 for the Ruger P95. Beats everything you have listed on price and is reliable and worth the $.

Ruger P95 if you have large hands.
Sigma SW9VE if you have medium hands and are used to DAO.

There are also plenty of police trade-in Glock 17 & 19 along with all steel S&W 59xx if you don't mind used.

My favorite would be the 59x6. They'll shoot NATO rounds all day without breaking a sweat. They're the predecessor to the 910 before going alloy with plastic sights.

Do something different and look for a used Star. I always liked Star for a budget pistol.

Dang, $3-400 is "El-Cheapo"? Wish I had your budget!

I'll add another vote for the P95. I've got the decock only model and love it. Great to shoot, comfortable to hold, and no silly safeties or whatnot to fool with.

You also have confidence in the guns build strength when Rugers website says this:
The Ruger 9mm pistols are chambered for the 9x19mm NATO Parabellum (9mm Luger) cartridge, compatible with the U.S. and foreign military or commercial 9x19mm loads manufactured in accordance with NATO, U.S., SAAMI, or CIP standards, including high-velocity, subsonic, tracer, hollow point, ammunition loaded in aluminum, steel, or brass cartridge cases, +P and +P+ ammunition.
