Looking for a new edc knife, it could be assisted auto, otf, or regular folder. Any suggestions?
Any opinions about gerber 06 auto, Benchmade otf, raven crest otf?
Any other opinions welcome for good use and dependability.

Also note, I want to he able to use the k of for every day activitiess and weekend exploring?

Bonus, I carry now a Kershaw speedsafe

I've dismissed them for years, but now changing my opinion on them- Cold Steel makes good knives- tacky marketing, but good knives. I have a recon-1 clip point. Thin blade, good size for my gorilla hands, cuts well. Many, many tomatoes have fallen victim to it's merciless slicing....

Check out Zero Tolerance knives.
I carry a ZT350 daily.
Assisted, s30V steel, one of the best warranties and CS in the industry.

I abuse it to no end.
It has cut everything from seatbelts to sheet metal.
Seriously overbuilt workhorse of a folder.

Wait...

By definition, it couldn't be OTF right?

Am I missing something?

Is there a knife that comes out the front and then unfolds ?

Your focused on semantics, an edc knife that pocket and concealed not a straight blade/sheath knife.

"What do you intend to cut everyday" might ask a better question? Honestly.

I hunt I fish I camp, could be rope, twine, shaving wood, packages, boxes, letters, self defense, seat belts in rescue, ect. .. every day every use every day activities every day possiblity

I have worn many, many different folders over the years, most were good, a few excellent, but none were ever as good or as MVC-013S.JPG MVC-011S.JPG MVC-012S.JPG strong as the Buck 279 that I have been carrying the last four or five years. Holds a great edge and easy to sharpen when needed.

What's your price range? $100, $200, ...?

A good OTF is going to cost much more than an equivalent folder. The Ravencrest and all the other Chinese parts knives aren't equal to the Paragon, Benchmade or Micro OTFs. Very different leagues.

Do you sweat a lot or spend time around saltwater?

What's your dissatisfaction with your current Kershaw?

Spyderco PM 2

Spyderco Manix 2

Spyderco Delica

ZT 0450 cf zip or 0452 cf if you want a cool well built flipper

For an EDC folder I like both my Benchmade Mini Griptilian and my Kershaw Scallion; both with partially serrated blades.

I do go fishing on jetties an beach fishing. And I do camp so dirt and sand are going to.get on it from time to time.

To.be honest no complaints about my knife now, it's just getting to the point of wear and tear to get a new one and try something new. I could order the same knife but wanted to see what's out there

Any opinions about Benchmade 940 axle knife

Yes. Its quite nice. Good size blade concealed within a slim, very EDC friendly package. Contoured scales feel good in hand. Comes in aluminum or carbon fiber these days I think.

The 940 is a great design. I thought about listing it. Two thing though: 1 Bench makes across the board are a bit overpriced compared to other brands imho. 2 the quality control and fit and finish doesn't seem to be as good as makers like ZT or spyderco. I would want to inspect a bench made before I bought it and not just order one online. That said a well made 940 is a good knife.

I've had the opposite experience in that I've had numerous problems with Spyderco, but never a problem with Benchmade. I agree that Benchmades are a little pricey, and that ZT is a better buy.

Ive never had a QC issue with BM, ZT, or Spyderco. Buck on the other hand.....

Any manufacturer can run a run of bad luck.

Best for what?

For most folks an Opinel in the pocket would be all that they would ever need.

Others may not be satisfied with the latest tacticool whiz bang auto one hand super slasher.

How did you come to that conclusion? An Opinel certainly doesn't meet my needs. How do you know it will meet the needs of most?
You do realize that a large number of American men (if we could call them that) don't even carry any kind of knife anymore, don't you? An Opinel would be an upgrade.

At the same time, realize that my response was somewhat tongue in cheek, and utilized a device called hyperbole.

I nominate the Benchmade 710:

I have been using one for 10+(?) years and it is an outstanding tool.

Can be opened and closed with one hand, is relatively slim, holds an edge well, lots of cutting edge.

Yes, however some do prefer to use tools.
I personally don't scratch and claw open boxes like a small animal.

I cut straps, metal tape, wood. Thick plastic and various other things that need to be cut.
Using an Opinel would be dangerous to my fingers.
;)
Opinels are awesome for small boxes, tape, fruit, and slicing a sammich, but they are "light duty" tools.

The Spyderco Endura is an often overlooked knife. It has a flat ground blade that is thinner than most, which makes it a better slicer. Steel is VG-10 made in Japan. The lock back is simple but inherently strong. The size is just about perfect for a full sized folder. And finally you can order them in various colors.
