Best group with hunting rifle

Most all my varmint and big game rifles have ben given a tune up. The actions with about one inch of the barrel has ben glass bedded, The rest of the barrel is free floated. The trigger pull is adjusted to three pounds. The bolt locking lugs were lapped on two of the rifles and the muzzle was lapped on one rifle. I work up reloaded ammo untill I get one inch or less 100 Yd five shot groups from the big game rifles and .75 inch or less size 100 Yd groups from the varmint rifles . At times there were some sub 1/2 inch groups from the big game and varmint rifles but it could have ben luck helping me.

I found an old target hanging in my building a couple of days ago. This was a case of pure luck if I remember correctly. I know that my Savage 110 in .30-06 didn't normally shoot this well. It certainly doesn't shoot bad but this target was an exception. It's 5 shots of Remington Core-Lokt 165 gr. from 100 yards.

Nice group, there is always a bit of luck involed, but you can also make your own luck. If that 06 printed that group once it will do it again. Next time you go to the range and you shoot a great group, write everything down that you did to make it happen. Like where did yo have your rest positioned on the forearm,the load data used, the temperature and humidity on that day. How tight you have your action screws, did shoot from a clean or fould barrel, every varible you can think of counts to the method of the madness. And last but not least, you! Some days your in a "zone" and some days you can't get the mechanics right. But when your in the zone you know it. Good shooting

It had cooled down so I figured the range time was just right. I've got some shot at , I believe, 114 or so around here somewhere in my note books.
