Best price I could get for a Mosin-Nagant

I have been looking at a Mosin-nagant that costs about $80 (before fees, shipping, etc.) which would cost between $115-130, is the Mosin nagant 91/30 a "class 1 firearm" I wouldnt know, wanted to know if this is a good price, going to use for plinking, deer hunting, general "do-all" rifle,

Try looking locally if you haven't already. You can get them in good condition for $100 pretty easily.

The m91/30 is a fun gun. It probably won't be super accurate, but I know some people deer hunt with them. Ammo is cheap. For plinking, you can get a surplus spam can of 440rds for $100. This stuff is corrosive so extra cleaning precautions/processes need to be taken but it's nothing to complain about. For deer hunting you would have to use a soft point like 203gr Brown Bear.

There are too many unknowns. Nationality, year, arsenal, condition of bore, status of bolt fit, etc. etc. Some of them are excellent, some are really nasty. They don't come much cheaper than a hundred bucks one way or the other.

i would really wanna see one, up close, in my hands, look at all the details I could, first. but that is a decent price though...

price is very easily changed depending on circumstances such as counter boring, bore condition, what sights it has, date of production, factory that made it, actual barrel length, matching numbers, length of ram rod in it. and if it was converted to a carbine version after original production.

if you find an m44 in the original 40,000 count production test, buy it as they are actually quite pricey.

i just got me an m44 a few weeks ago for $100 betterthan the 91/30, i have been trying to get it sighted with the bayonet folded. its getting close still about 7" left @ 100 yards, but just about dead on with the bayonet unfolded, 3" 3 shot group, it was 22in left at 100 yards with the bayonet folded. the 91/30 is just to long for me i think its like 51" m44 is 40" folded, if u dont know, i just feel like talkin.......typin my bore looks like crap , the rifleling is almost gone at the muzzle it appears. i just need to adjust the sight over some more and see what the groups look like. i would definitly try to get hands on before you buy it though. my local gun shops wanted atleast $150 thats with shipping and everything, they said the bore would be in great shape and ready to shoot

If you plan on buying more C&R weapons I suggest you get a C&R License that allows the weapon to bypass the need for a FFL and be shipped directly to your house. The license takes two weeks to a month to get and the cost is $30 for three years.

Around here (Western WA) occasionally Big 5 still put them on sale for $99 (regular $179) but it's becoming an increasingly rare event.

The time of "everyday" Mosin-Nagant prices at $70-80 are long gone.

Maybe online it's different.

AIM Surplus, last I checked, had round receiver 91/30s for $79.99 (add $10 for handpick) and hex receiver 91/30s for $89.99 (add $10 for handpick). I ordered one of the handpicked hex receiver 91/30s a few weeks back, and ended up with a 1934 Izhevsk ex-Dragoon.

I have put a few of my M44s on GunsAmerica to answer that question. I used GA auctions, not classifieds, and they usually get bid up to about $90, plus shipping. The M44 is the short version with the folding bayonet, and they are finicky with ammo. (The hot romanian stuff in the green boxes sticks in them.) I think mine are Polish, which are the cheapies if I remember.

I also bought a 91/30 last summer at Kittery Trading Post in maine that was in great shape with a good bore for $150. Take that for what it's worth.

I have a 1930 and a 1936 91/30, both with hex receivers. Both are very accurate but did require some shim work and added recoil pads. I have a M44 on order and also working on a private purchase of a Finnish M38.

My 91/30 is exceptionally accurate! It just doesn't enjoy rapid fire. I can get about two shots off before the third cartridge is moved forward in the magazine just a hair too far for it to be chambered. Fun rifle though and cheap to boot!

Well, the appreal for me is the feel of the trigger and the felt recoil

But, then again. I am just a guy, not a "marksman" much like the men who shot the rifle when they were built.
