Best quality AK style weapon

I have an early WASR with very roughly milled mag well. It is much lighter than a milled reciever and is a dream to carry due to the weight. It shoots just as accurately as my brother's american made milled reciever(can't remember which brand) and my buddy's Krebs. With Golden Bear(barnaul) HPs it will shoot 5 shots under 2 inches at 100 yards all day long. Tulammo FMJ's also shoot that well. If I use any brand of Wolf ammo I can expect 4-8 inch groups. Sure, the milled reciever AK's are nice but for the price I could almost have a decked out AR. The cheap CIA WASR's are much better than what people would have you believe. You just have to use the correct ammo. I haven't had a malfunction in the 10 years that I have owned the weapon(5,000 rounds). So, cheap, light and accurate. That, to me, is the best. If you want heavy, expensive and accurate, choose one of the other brands.
Note: I always use a KVAR KV-04 side mount as it is rock solid. If you use a junk cheapo mount you most likely will not ever get good accuracy with any AK variant. I think junk ammo and junk optic mounts give most AK's the bad accuracy rap.

AR70 (well, the SIGs are even nicer clones, but also cost like 3X as much). Taking this one out for it's maiden firing today

AK style gas system and operation, AR-style lower configuration (not compatible, but the same two-pin attachment concept), AR-ish (heavy on the "ish") trigger setup with a good trigger pull. Feeds from USGI mags modified to rock in (an original AR70 mag is shown, though).

When talking about "AK's" and the best quality AK I think comparisons need to be within two distinct catagories, Preban and Postban ie:the 89' importban by Bush #1. The differance being untouched imported rifles from their respective countries of origin and rifles brought in as sporting rifle configurations or parts kits and then converted with USA receivers and other american made parts. I own many Valmets,IMI Galils, and Chinese prebans as well as two Arsenals all quality AK variants. Some totally American made AK variants, such as the Sig are very good also and have the advantage of American maching techniques that very well could make them more accurate than a third world AK, although I would bet that Valmets & Galils could run with them.Willie has given good and accurate info for the Novice AK buyer, some of you hardheaded youngins would do well to heed his advice.:banghead:
