Best three guns (Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun) to have.

CZ VZ58, light, compact, reliable and easy to find ammo.
HK USP 9mm, reliable and easy to find ammo.
Mossberg 500 12GA, reliable and easy to find shells.

Sig P239 in 9mm, SKS, and a 12 gauge Mossberg 500. The Sig and SKS could be considered to be overbuilt, and the Mossy has those twin extractors. I'm confident all 3 would outlast me.

Before anyone can make an intelligent answer to a question like this, we have to ask, what do we want these guns for?

Rifle:

Small game hunting -- a .22. For the best combination of price and quality, I would go with a CZ 452.

Varmit hunting -- a Savage in .223.

Larger game (deer to moose), a Winchester Model 70 in .30-06.

Pistol:

Practice, plinking, and small game hunting -- a Ruger MK II or III

Self-defense -- an M1911 in .45 ACP.

Deer hunting and similar applications -- a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt.

Shotgun:

All applications -- Remington 870 with multiple barrels, in 12 gauge.

My original thought was best three guns to have if you could only have these three guns. The only three guns you own. Not any of that "what do you want it for" or "what you shoot best" nonsense. Just the top three guns you would have if you could only have three and money was no object.

1911's and AR's make good choices, as you can put a plethora of uppers on either one expanding calibers and capabilities.

4 Gun
M4 - 5.56 NATO -Battle Rifle
Remington Model 700 - 30.06 - DM/Sniper Rifle
Mossberg 500 12 guage - CQB Weapon
Springfield XD - .45 ACP - PDW

1) Colt Government Model .45ACP with several different caliber conversions.

2) Colt AR-15 .223 with several different caliber conversions.

3) Mossberg Model 500 12 Gauge with extra barrel conversions.

- Glock 22 with 357 SIG & 9mm conversion barrels along with a 22LR conversion kit. Still one pistol, right? :)
- AK (converted Saiga to "real" AK)
- Saiga Shotgun in 20 ga

Could probably have everything above with some ammo for just under $2,000

Rifle- Stevens 200 sporter in 308 Win and 3X9 Leapold- I have now
Handgun- Glock 17 with 6 +2 mags- I have now
Shotgun- Scattergun tech Rem 870 3"- I have now
If you can't get it done with those, you can't get it done at all, then it's cold dead fingers time.

Of what I own... I would say my Hi Point 995S in the pistol category... Mossberg 500 and SKS...

If I could just have one of each... I guess I would go with a 9mm glock, same shotgun and probably a Garand...

If it were some sort of a SHTF situation, I would use the pistol and rifle as currency and use the shotgun for everything else.

If you could only have one of each, what do you believe the best three guns to own are? Money is no object, but I would like some reasons why if you feel like it. 1 rifle, 1 pistol (or revolver) and 1 shotgun only.

If money is no object I assume you’re buying, so I get the best:

Rifle- Winchester pre 64 model 70 in .270 or .30/06

Shotgun- Winchester model 21 12 gauge.

Pistol- S&W registered magnum pre-war 4” like here http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/admin/product_details.php?itemID=32727

best guns

Ruger old army, cause u can make ur own ammo if crazy politicians ban it,Ruger 10 22 cause its the best 22lr ever made in semi auto, browning bar in 308 win cause its the very best semi auto sporting rifle, romainian sks cause any gun that can look so beat up and still shoot 2 in or less groups off hand with cheap ammo, and novice shooters, belongs in my safe, shall I go on:cool:

Why does it not surprise me that the overly majority are all tacticool guns with no quality, well-made wood and steel guns mentioned?

With NO cost as an objective, folks still pick nickel and dime stamped crap.....wow

IMO, I would go with a Korth for a pistol,
A rifle would be from either Peter Hofer or Philip Ollendorf
and as for a good shotgun - if targets, then a nice Perazzi or Fabbri - if birds, then a classic Purdey or David McKay Brown

None of those are found in your current video game or your typical gun rag

I think if you made me pick 3 of my guns this is what I would keep
rifle: DSA AR-15
pistol: XD45
shotgun: Ithaca M37

Of the ones I own I would pick;
Kimber 84M Classic .308
Glock 23 .40
Mossberg 12ga
If money was no object, mmmmmm......??????

Rifle- KAC SR 25 AR 10 with 18 inch barrel
Pistol- Glock 19 or a Kimber 1911 in 45 ACP
Shotgun- Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 with a 20 inch chokeable barrel

Rifle: The one you shoot the best
Pistol: The one you shoot the best
Shotgun: The one you shoot the best

Since everybody is different, their opinion of 'best' will likewise be different.
Rifle- the one I shoot the best? M1 Garand

Pistol- The one I shoot the best? 1911 (any)

Shotgun- The one I shoot the best? SP-10 Remington- The big gun.

Well, if only restricted to 3 guns it'd be -Win 94 30-30, 1911, and Marlin 39A personally I'd get more use out of the 30-30 then a 12ga(though if I could have 4 that would be next. Per your rules

Marlin 39A- a 22 rifle is just too useful to me

Mossberg 500 with a 18 and 24in barrels

Ed Brown 1911

Pistol: Glock 26- can go from extremely concealable to zombie slayer with a magazine change. Is accurate, reliable and durable. Add a 22lr conversion kit and you have cheap plinker, training aid and close range small gamer gun. My current CCW/home defense choice.

Shotgun: Mossberg 500 with long barrel and short barrel with magazine extension. It can fire whatever ammunition you can dream of. It can take many different kinds of game depending on ammo choice and with a short barrel and buckshot it's a very effective defensive gun, my current home defense longgun in fact.

Rifle: AK-47 with quick release side mount and scope. It's capable of taking deer and hog. Can also be used as a DMR within limited range obviously or drop the scope to use as normal 0-300 yard carbine. Very reliable and durable.

my three would be

browning bar 7mm i know its kind of weird but its the first rifle i ever shot

pistol would be springfield .357 sig or kimber in the 10mm as long as i didn't have a problem finding ammo for either

shotgun i will have to agree with most and do a remington 870
