Traded a complete AR lower with 3 30 round mags and my glock 27 with 3 mags for a kimber pro carry II and 2 mags. The total amount of money i put into both was about 600$ combined.

Will be taking it to the range tomorrow to test it out. I have never considered myself the kind of guy who would own a thousand dollar pistol and I am excited to see what this 1911 can do!

It is gorgeous by the way :) Heres some pics.

Nice, I shot a Kimber a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised with the trigger in comparison to my Les Baer.

As long as you are happy thats what truly matters..

In my opinion you got taken. You gave up a working firearm and a impossible to find lower (which alone would get you about $300 not including mags) for one working firearm.

That's not a trade that I would have ever made, but if you are happy, that's all that matters.

complete lowers are going from 300 to 800 on gunbroker but like said above if it was a good trade to you that's what matters.

The right way to look at it fellas is he paid $600 for the Kimber, which is a great price for a really nice pistol!

That's how we treat our fellow members, right?!? ;)

While I agree it was a great price for the Kimber pistol, as far as monetary value goes I along with others think he got the short end of the stick.

But as stated as long as he is happy its really none of our business.

That's funny. I had the exact same experience. I bought an Ultra Carry II a few years back (sold it before I shot it though) and the trigger was extremely nice. Better than the Baer Custom Carry I bought a few years back and the Springfield Range Officer I bought recently. Really nice triggers considering they are series 80.

Locally stripped lowers I have seen for $600, and the shop selling them was actually making sales on them. Bushmasters with a poly lower are actually selling, not just priced at, $1600. Pre-panic I'd say it would have been a great deal but with the current market I'd say you may have gotten taken for a little bit, that's just my humble opinion and all that matters is that you are happy with it.

Good deal for $600.00! And as a plus, you got rid of a Glock.

Considering it's the dead of winter in Alaska, so probably prime trading season, I think if you're happy, you did fine!

Wow. I did not think this thread would look like this when I next checked it thats for sure!

I for one, do not believe that these laws are going to be passed and think it will be business as usual after a bit of time.

Living in rural alaska I dont have access to the same amount of buyers/sellers as i would in the lower 48.

I also am not a big fan of taking people for all their worth because of a panic. I also am not one of the guys that likes to take advantage of situations by bending people over barrels when i have the opportunity to do so.

I feel that 600$ for a kimber with laser grips on it is more than a good deal currently and we probably both walked away in a good mood.

Hearing so much nay saying definitely makes me second guess myself, but the bottom line still is that I got at least my moneys worth out of this trade and for a lot less hassle than trying to find a buyer for both of my guns and without the gouging as well.

I like being able to sleep at night and have halfway decent karma :p

    Great trade.

In a few months what you traded will be worth $600 again and your new pistol will still be worth over $1000.

I just bought a complete RRA lower online yesterday for $369, shipped, no tax. Pmags, even in these weird times, can be found around me for $29. That's less than $500 worth of stuff for a nice Kimber? Not a good deal, great deal!

    Besides, you like it!

    Thanks MaterDei!

You helped put my thoughts into words. Hit the nail right on the head with the gear depreciating in value over time vs the kimber that will be worth as much as it is now for the foreseeable future.

I understand how your location can affect availability. I always see posts about how a nice example of a model 10 shouldn't cost more than $450 or whatever. Well that may be true in larger cities with lots if inventory, but not so where I live; you gotta take what you can find here.

You got a nice pistol and you're happy with the trade, that's what matters!

Well, I didn't think the last ban would ever become law; boy was I wrong there. Never underestimate the incompetence of a good politician.

As to you're trade, if you're happy then that's all that really matters. My worthless opinion is the other guy has the broader smile but that means exactly nothing.

Never mind the naysayers. If you're satisfied with this particular trade then that's all that matters. Enjoy your new Kimber.

I agree that as long as your happy that's what matters BUT you did come out on the short end in this climate where people are paying crazy prices for lowers and mags and anything high cap.

That'st certainly not thinking like a market-driven capitalist! What difference does it make what the OP paid for the items that he sold? Shouldn't the seller be getting fair market value, unless he's "gifting" to somebody??

Cheaper-than-Dirt is asking $100 each for AR 30 rd. mags. The Glock was easily worth $400-$450.

On day, long ago, in my youth, I and a buddy of mine got pulled over for drag racing on a public thoroughfare. My buddy was a few years older than I was and he got fined $150; I was fined $100. Somehow the idea that I came out of that particular fiasco $50 to the good just never seemed to ring true.

Those were the days when $50 was a LOT of money too.
