That's funny. I had the exact same experience. I bought an Ultra Carry II a few years back (sold it before I shot it though) and the trigger was extremely nice. Better than the Baer Custom Carry I bought a few years back and the Springfield Range Officer I bought recently. Really nice triggers considering they are series 80.

Yeah you know, the Kimber name is not that well thought of my the 1911 purists out there and their opinions largely kept me away. I found out that Kimber does some interesting things with the spring setup that differs from 1911 convention. At least the Kimber I shot had a very strong hammer spring and a very stout recoil spring. But it was very smooth in recoil even with factory loads. Much smoother than my 1911's which have typical spring setups. The Kimbers have their weaknesses, and I think they are probably a bit overpriced (capitalizing on the name and reputation) and their "custom shop" is well, the janitor's closet... But yeah, really nice trigger for Series 80.

In my neck of the woods you traded at least $250 worth of magazines, a $5-600 handgun, not to mention the AR lower for a Kimber 1911. Granted I would much rather have the Kimber than the Glock or AR lower I think it wasn't such a good trade.

I agree with you I would rather sleep well at night than wring the last dollar out of every deal. You and the other guy are happy and you didn't take advantage of a situation. People remember the way they get treated and they tell their friends about good deals and bad. I think you did just fine. I have never shot a Kimber I got to hold one years back and it sure felt good. Enjoy your new gun.

Wow you got robbed. Pro carry II is a $700 pistol brand new. You could have posted that AR somewhere for $1000+ Best trade of the morning goes to the guy that got an AR and a glock for $700-$800. I got a pro carry II with night sights a couple years ago for $725.

A quick 5 minutes with a smartphone could have done alot for you....I for sure wouldn't have made that trade.

That said, I've made a few trades that were "Doh!" moments, but not until I got home and found out what I'd done... One time I was happy I made $50 on a gun, until I looked it up a few weeks later and realized I should have made $800 or so. Oh well

Realizing you didn't make as much money as you could have, is not the same as losing money.

I think you got a fair deal. I also think some people are forgetting about the CT grips that came on the Kimber, which adds a fair chunk of change to the value.

This would have been an AWESOME deal like 3 months ago, however I still think you did just fine... I probably woulda made the deal myself

umm...

$369 for lower ( fairly low price for today's market)

$30 x 3 for mags ( more if they are good mags today)

$450 for used glock 27 ( still a little on the low side as of late)

$25 for extra glock mag ( if you can find it)

Comes out to $934

According to todays market you now have, in my opinion, a very low estimate of $934 in the used kimber.

It doesn't matter what you have in it, it is the market value. If someone sold a mint showroom 69 Z28 with zero miles on it for what they gave for it back in '69, they would be taking a HUGE loss.
