Well, I finally gave in and sent my 1911 back to Springfield. I call them up last Weds and explained the problem to the woman on the phone. She emailed me a FedEx label and assured the gun would return in perfect working order.
I get home from work on Monday and there is a FedEx tag on my door. Could it be my 1911 was done already?? YES! According to the sheet of paper inside they replaced the extractor, reamed the barrel (whatever that means) and polished the feed ramp. I can't wait to get it to the range!
Big thumbs up for Springfield. I had no idea turn around would be this quick. This pretty much solidifies that an XD will be my next gun.
