Just listening to the O'Reilly Radio Factor and Bill's talking about the fallout from Katrina. He said one thing is certain: the importance of the 2nd Ammendment and the necessity of private gun ownership can never be questioned again. He said that when the SHTF, folks relied on their own protection against the looters, thieves, and murderers, and the government was incapable of protecting them. Bill also said that he had never been an big proponent of RKBA. He believed in it on a limited basis. He said he's never had a gun, but he going to get one, along with training, because it knows things like Katrina will happen, and it's up to him to protect himself.

O'Reilly's in NYC, right?

It would be GREAT if he was made to jump through the same hoops as John Q. Public, but as a celebrity, he'll probably merit special treatment. :(

:D

For some reason Mr Reilly's little epiphany kinda makes me think about the joy in Heaven over the repentance of a single sinner.

The really good news is that he isn't the only one. Regular folks without their own TV shows seem to feel the same way.

I have 4 friends who for the past couple years just kept saying "The police will protect you . . .I mean, hunting guns are ok, but why do you need an 18 inch barrel and mag extention on your shotgun, that's not for hunting . . . you are kidding yourself if you buy into these 'survival scenarios' . . .I don't care if you are a law abiding citizen, I don't want you carrying a pistol around the streets of downtown; besides, there are tons of cops around. . .they'll take your gun away from you and shoot you with it."

I drink with these people every tuesday night, and I'd say the gun issue comes up on average of once a month. It was always 4 against 1.

In the past week 3 of the 4 have called to find out what kind of gun to buy and 2 of them have already purchased 870s. "Did you ever think that in America that citizens would be left on their own to fend for themselves against criminals, with no police to protect them?"

yes. yes I did.

I seem to remember O'Reilly ranting about "AK47s and Uzis, assault weapons, we need to get them off the streets, no reason to have them", etc. a few months ago   :D

Everyone comes around to the truth in their own time....it was finally Bill O'Reilly's turn.

Of course Michael Moore said something similar after 9/11 & it didn't seem to last all that long in his case.....

I remember his rant about the AWB sunsetting

Nobody needs an assault weapon and all that crap. I stopped listening to him when he pulled the rug out from under me. He can go kiss. If he apologizes or admits he was dead wrong then I will go back to be a listener.

Hey, look at this in a good way. WE now Bill O'Reilly is a mouthpiece, but now we, RKBA people have added a good mouthpiece to our side. He will get peoples attention.

Can't wait till he realizes he just can't walk into a gunshop and buy a gun in NYC.

Of course, being a celebrity and all, no doubt he'll be allowed into the "expedite" line @ the permit counter..... :fire:

Yeah, he'll remember right up until about the time he has accumulated 1/1,000th the cash of Oprah - then he'll have enough to have armed bodyguards like her. Then he'll forget and wonder again why the sheeple need guns.

News Media in New Orleans

Many of the News crews hired gun carrying guards to protect them while they rode around in the truck and boats. But we the people didn't need to protect ourselves and we could not afford to hire armed guards. And they are still talking about taking the guns from the citizens.

This will be a real eye opener for for the media elite and the like.

O'Reilly's boss

Isn't Rupert Murdoch, the furriner who owns Fox,
a gun control supporter? I would not mind to be
wrong about this, but sometimes CNN is more fair
and balanced on gun issues (and we all know
where CNN is coming from).

I did enjoy it when he stated (and this is badly paraphrased) that our founding fathers had it right with the 2nd amendment. The government cannot be there for you all the time.

As with most folks I listen to or read, there are things to agree with and things to disagree with. O'Reilly falls into that group for me. It's just opinion after all. Everyone gets one. I'm still waiting for someone to be all things to all people. Should be a long wait.

A lot of folks are looking at New Orleans and realizing having a gun in the household may not be a bad idea after all. When folks finally start realizing that a lot of the bad things fall into the "there but for the grace of God go I" category, they'll realize they need to be a lot more self sufficient. As usual, it takes a disaster to remind folks of that. And, as usual, we’ll forget the lessons by Tuesday.

Nothing like a good hard slap in the face from reality to make you pull your head out of the sand (or other much less pleasant places). Seems like Bill may have just got one.

get real

O'reilley probably owns homes in several states and will not be buying one in NYC.
I wouldn't.
