A few years ago, I hunted black bear in Maine with my Marlin levergun in 35 Remington. Had a great hunt and took a blacky weighing approx 275 lbs or so. Good hunting to you. TR
That is one thing I really love about Alaska. Four Black Bear a year and NO CLOSED SEASON. This one was taken on the Russian River in the Sanctuary area last spring.
As a fellow Western WA shooter where what area are you hunting in? Black bear is something I have never hunted but always wanted to.
kd7 we are hunting on the Coyle/Dabob Bay penninsula a few miles west of the Hood Canal bridge in Jefferson County. It's been really hot, 80's & 90's, last couple of wknds, so no sightings, but we saw some scat, probably a week old, but no tracks or beds. It's usually best early morn, overcast & slightly foggy.
How does the 7x57 Mouser stack up or compare to say maybe a 30-30 or a 45/75 Government? Whats good for Grizzly?
