Turn it against him

The govenor of Nevada setup a phone number to be called to vote on whether he should sign the gun control bill or not. Bloomberg setup a phone number so out of state anti gunners can call in and appear to be in state.

I copied this from ar15.com
"MAIG set up an out of state hotline for their cronies to make calls look like they are coming from Nevada 888-966-9224 wait till they get you through and select option 2"

Let's call and use this against them. Select 2

Also call direct to this number to vote: 775-684-5670

Mod Note: See Activism thread for more details on this mandatory background check bill.

Better yet call these numbers

Las Vegas Chamber of Commerence 702-641-5822

Las VegasTourism 702-641-5822

Tell them that your future visits to their fair city is totally dependent on what the governor does. Also point out that those in the gun hobby have the discretionary income to spend in their town.

The great thing about MAIG and Bloomberg setting these toll free numbers up is that we can use them to oppose him and the other Antis. Even better is that we're far more active in opposing Antis than they can get people to take any action against us.

It isn't actually a "vote" or "poll". NV is just counting how many people call in supporting the bill by "pressing 1" and how many are opposing it by "pressing 2". Supposedly the Governor of NV will take into consideration the count for each in making a decision.

I recall there was a poll that people who support gun rights are more active than people who support gun control.

PEW Research Center Poll May 1-5 2013

GR gun rights supporters v GC gun control supporters

I would not vote for a candidate who disagrees with me on gun policy even if they agree with me on other issues:
41% GR gun rights supporters
31% GC gun control supporters

I have contributed money to an organisation that takes my position on gun rights/gun control:
12% GR gun rights supporters
3% GC gun control supporters

I have contacted a public official to express my position on gun policy
11% GR gun rights supporters
9% GC gun control supporters

Done.

Bloomberg has set up a type of phone relay that allows the user to call into the system and appear to be in state. After hearing the announcement, the call is transferred to the governor's office poll lines, and so it appears that the call is coming from in state, since it is relayed through local phone lines.

The great thing about what Bloomberg is doing is that it can be turned against them if enough people vote "no" (option 2), and the Bloomberg folks can't do anything about it because they lose control of the call once they have transferred it to the governor's office phone system. The poll itself is administered by the governor's office so the Bloomberg folks can't drop "no" votes.

I would also think that multiple calls could be made to further exploit the weakness in Bloomberg's attempt to manipulate results.

Seems there's no restriction on how many times Dumberg number is used to register #2, at least up to five times anyway :D

And one to the governors number for good measure :)

.

Bruno2: Same here.

You guys/gals are sure that multiple calls from a number outside NV are not differentiated or excluded?:scrutiny:
I voted over ten times, just to help the Real citizens of Nevada.

Wait, so this mayor and/or organization set up a phone system that forwards your number through another system, with the intent to hide your true location and affect a voting decision.

I think I've heard something about this before. There's a name for it. Hold on, it's coming to me...
Oh, yeah.
Fraud.

Do multiple calls register as different people?

Does their telephone survey differentiate between calls from Nevada, and those from other states?:scrutiny:

Chances are that multiple votes count multiple times, but it depends on how good the governor's office phone/polling system is. If it's a good one, then it will see the caller ID as coming from the same group of phone numbers and eventually discount those calls. If it's a not-so-good system, then it probably can only differentiate between in-state and out-of-state calls.

However, if MAIG's phone system is really good, and their service carrier (phone company) lets them, they could produce and send a different caller ID number for each call.

The Bloomberg lines were set up to fool the NV governor's office into thinking that the calls are coming from in state, which means MAIG is cheating. Imagine that?

Note: Anyone calling the direct number (NV area code) from out of state is pretty much guaranteed that their vote will not count because if the calls are tracked by caller ID then the pollsters will know the votes were cast out of state. The 800 number provided gets around this by transferring out of state calls to phone lines that show in-state numbers on caller ID.

Thelaststand, I sure would appreciate a link to the article you mentioned at ar15.com, and if anyone has a link to the MAIG page that discusses this campaign, that would be appreciated, also.

Las Vegas? Why? Our governor does not live in Las Vegas. He lives more than 400 miles from there... It's the biggest city, but I think the convincing would go better in Reno/rural areas, where we aren't forced to register.

I have no big sense about how Sandoval feels, except that I hope he does know that gun control would be political suicide in some way. He knows how his state feels...

If this thing is true, very scuzzy of Bloomberg. Not surprising, but kind of messed up.

Yes... Vote many times. It's a double wammy for Bloomberg. A vote against the background check bill AND it runs up MAIG's phone bill.

Of course, you know, those toll free numbers record the callers phone number so expect calls from MAIG in the future...... That could be entertaining. :)

But, Gov. Sandoval does have an office in Las Vegas.

Call the 800 number and you will hear a recording that tells you to vote to support SB 221 by pressing 1, and to stay on the line while your call is transferred to the governor's poll line. You will then be transferred to the state-wide poll line.

Not only is it scuzzy, but it is also cheating, and, as pointed out by Deus Machina, fraud.
