fellas I am looking to pick up a 44mag uberti 1873 lever gun with some 44 spec brass. Looking to load some red dot I have with speer 200 grain GDHP, which is about the best expander at low speed. I keep hearing about 'blowback' though. For lower powered loadings, what does this mean? A little gas in the face( which wouldnt bother me) or inconsistent ballistics( which would bother me)?

gas and crud in the face. some unburnt powder or carbon, some gun oil, etc. I shoot marlins, and I don't have any issues with my little subsonic 357's, and the 44 wasn't too bad, but the 45 colt was pretty rough.

I see blowback mostly in my Rossi 92. I adjusted the load just a hair and it got better. 45 Colt in case you were wondering.
