So I just visited the Duluth Trading Company store to get some new blue jeans and I found something special that some of you fine folks might appreciate so I thought I'd pass it along. They have these Ballroom Double Flex "Carpenter" jeans that just look like a really nice pair of jeans but, not as readily noticeable, the jeans have built in spare magazine carrier pockets on the thighs. I immediately realized that the pocket on the left thigh is perfectly sized to store a full sized double stack high cap type pistol magazine. That's great of course- but wait, it gets even better. When I took a closer look, I realized that the two pockets on the right thigh, which are are somewhat larger, seem to be about perfectly sized to fit two 30 round AR15 magazines in them quite securely. I can also attest that the larger of these two pockets will fit a 20 round .308 magazine perfectly. As you can see in the picture, a J frame revolver can also be concealed in one of the right side pockets but not with any holster I own. A Kimber Solo will also conceal in the right side pocket but not with my super fly holster. You can carry the Solo in the superfly in one of the right side pockets easily enough but it won't be concealed and it will look a little odd for EDC. It would be very easy to draw it in this way though so, maybe in an emergency.

One other bonus-the jeans are stretchy so you can really move in them easily. You can kneel, crouch, crawl, stoop, duck walk, run etc in these jeans as easily as if you were wearing your BDU pants from the military. And they are manufactured to that high level of quality and durability that Duluth Trading Company is famous for. And they look great. And they're also on sale right now.

So, I don't normally feel the need to share information like this but I feel like these jeans are kind of game changing and appropriate for a THR review. Though made for a Carpenter, these are, IMO, pretty ideal for concealed carry type people and I thought that some folks around here that also want to carry a spare magazine but don't because they don't like carrying extra crap on their belt might appreciate the review.

In the pictures I'm attaching you can see that the left pocket will also secure a single 32 round Uzi magazine. If you were doing hand stands any magazine in the left pocket would fall out. The two 30 round AR magazines would probably fall out too (but maybe not immediately) The 20 round AR10 magazine would probably not come out of the pocket if you did a handstand. The BUGs would probably fall out. So I'll probably just skip doing any handstands just to be safe. That was humor btw.

The upside of having the pockets a little loose is that the spare magazine can be withdrawn from the pocket relatively quickly and easily even during a stressful situation. It should also be mentioned that you can easily just carry two extra pistol magazines in the right side pockets and the one in the left for a total of three extra high cap magazines. The magazines have weight of course which is noticeable but they don't prevent you from sitting in anyway and carrying three extra magazines in this fashion causes no discomfort.

The only bad thing about these jeans is that they don't really allow you to conceal a left handed BUG. They would, IMO, be even nicer if the two bigger pockets were on the left side and the smaller extra magazine pocket was on the right. Oh well, the southpaws caught a break for once I guess.

So that's my review of these jeans. I think their primary benefit is the ability to EASILY carry a spare magazine with you when you walk out the front door. You can just drop that thing right in there and forget about it. It's just too easy. We all know we should carry a spare mag but how often do we do it? And why don't we do it every time we carry? Basically, because it's a pain. Not any more. Everything else I just described is just kind of a bonus really. Anyways, carry on.

You san see the Glock 19X magazine completely hidden in the left side pocket almost as if the pocket was made for it. The two extra AR magazines in the right side pockets are snug enough that you could run with them and you can sit in a chair or car seat with them comfortably enough.

And, of course, pocket carry typically requires a holster but in an emergency situation, this would be feasible. A smaller back up handgun might fit in one of these pockets with a holster. And how many spare Uzi magazines do you really need to carry on a day to day basis? But in an emergency, an extra one that could quickly be tossed into this pocket might be nice and it drops right in there. So would any other stick type SMG magazine of course.

I doubt I'd ever carry that solo that way but the .308 magazine? I might in an actual SHTF situation. We don't always have time to throw on the full battle rattle gear when trouble comes a callin'. The ability to quickly stuff that extra mag into that pocket and go could be invaluable. Hopefully not ever but hey, who knows? Like the Boy Scouts say, be prepared.
