    Dumb question:

If I was going to put a matte VX3 on a blued Winchester 70 Sporter, should I use blued rings?

I usually prefer matte black scopes but for my rings to match the finish on the receiver.

    Get Matte finished rings...

They will blend in with the scope and look to be one unit, when on the other hand the 'glossy' finished rings wrap around the 'matte' finished scope, you notice the difference in finish between the rings and scope body, in a big way!

Since I live in Oregon on the wet wet side any bluing is temporary. Paint and parkerizing are great for protecting steel from rust.

But I always was a form follows function kinda guy.
